Belgium Steering wheel upgrade

Hi, anyone... I have a Mini Cooper with sports steering wheel (3 spokes). It doesn't have any controls on it (ie. for the radio). Is it possible to have it replaced by a steering wheel with controls? Or will extra cables need to be installed as well? Would it be pricey?

Smile Thank you

Thank you Chris for this tip.
I'm glad this can be solved by installing a kit and not buying a new steering wheel.

Still no clue

I went to a Mini Dealership and asked them about retrofitting the radio controls on the steering wheel. They said they didn't know how much it would cost, but that it would be costly and a lot of work. They also said they would have to put in the necessary wireing behind the dash and through the steering column.

These weren't mechanics but sales people so I get the impression that (1) they don't know what they are talking about, or (2) they're trying to scam me out of a few hundred euro's.

The EBA instructions for MFSW retrofit says :-

installation time 3.5hrs.

So, say, 4 hrs @ the stealer = 4*lots/hr = more

I would like this done as well - Perhaps we can arrange a "group install" MFSW day somewhere. Somebody must be able to fit it for us (and cheaply)

What about that place....newministuff...can they help??

I've just purchased a MFSW from eBay although I've been told that the "wiring modules" were not included.

I am hoping to use the buttons to open / close my garage door and switch on / off the house alarm (which will be triggered when I enter the garage).

Do I assume that I won't need the wiring looms for this sort of operation?
