Offline | Navigation components... Hi, first post probably of many... I curently own a 5-series touring, and due to an upcoming house move (and change from 10miles to 60miles commute per day) am looking for something a little more economical!.. I am going to start hunting for a mini cooper in a month or so, and would ideally like one with sat nav and all the other good things, but if I cant find one would consider retrofitting it.. I currently have sat nav in my 5-series, whcih I have upgraded over the years to a MK4 DVD computer, BM54 radio module, etc. Im considering taking these upgrades out of the car and using them in the mini, but am not sure on compatibility... Can anyone tell me what sort of nav computer the mini uses (ie MK1/2/3/4 or Navi1/2), how the system copes with amp/radio functions (ie is there a seperate radio/amp module as with the older 5 and 7 series and X5's) and anything else that might be of use... I guess Im trying to determine whether to sell on ebay or keep for later use!... Thanks in advance b ![]() |

| I miss my MINI | catboy welcome to the forum. The MINI uses the MK4 (current) system. The problem that you are going to have if you do a retrofit is the wiring loom. You have to remove a large portion of the car to get the correct loom in and most places charge a large amount to do this. So, if you can't find one with it installed already it would be best to go with a HU type NAV system. I'm pretty sure that the radio module will not work in the MINI due to the wiring loom. Check out NewMINIStuff.com for some good solutions. Global Moderator ![]() |

Offline | thanks for the response.. I did a retrofit on my current car so understand the amount of work involved, and it is quite a big job!... I currently have a carpc too which Im hoping to carry over, so I might just add a flip out touch screen or something and let the computer take care of the navigation, music, tv, etc... thanks again for the response, Im off to check out that link now b ![]() |
