What size are the speakers

Hi

I have recently bought a cooper and was just wondering what size speakers it has and what are best to buy to replace the standards?

Cheers

they have 6 x 9 speakers in the back and 13cm components in the front... u cant go wrong with alpine type R, ull have to amp them though to get the best sound out of them, stick an after market head unit inb too with a larger output. should sound wkd...mine did... the 12" subs are a kool thing to have too

Cheers mate

The car already has a Sony HU in which are usually 4X50W

Are the speakers easy enough to change?

The speakers are easy enough to change, see the FAQ guide. You will need adaptors
whatever size you use so you may as well buy 16.5cm components.

Dead easy all the panels in the back just clip off, the only real bit that requires a small amount of effort is if you have a power capacitor..feeding that from the boot through to the battery of the car! not all that difficult i thought my mini was pretty easy to wire.

I was under the impression 16.5cm speakers were too deep to fit in the door? maybe that was just the speakers i bought.

On the Mini the originals have a deep built in spacer. I replaced mine with Focal Polyglass
165V2 speakers and built my own spacers from mdf. The Focals have a 72mm mounting
depth and the was just enough room for them .

I had a generic aftermarket shop fit my system. They didn't bat an eyelid - it was sooooo easy for them, even though they'd never done a Mini before.

Here's the thread:

And a pic of the amp:

As Steve says there's plenty of depth in the doors for some nice speakers (I went 6.5" 2-way splits in the front, 6x9" 3-way coaxial splits in the rear).

I had my head-unit installed when I bought it... me and my dad were gonna fit it ourselves but we thought it would be best this time to let the guys do it as they have all the gear... it took them about an hour and they had to put on a adapter to convert the european antena to australian standards so they could fit my pioneer head unit... then they thought that they would have to make something up to make it look better so there were no gaps... but once it was fitted they didn't have to do that... I just stuck with the stock standard speakers as they sound gr8 with my $900 headunit.... the bass is quite good too and have had alot of people ask me if I have subs.. and are surprised when I tell them no...
