Offline | It appears to be an BMW/MINI add on that gives you trafficmaster voice warnings of traffic jams through the car speakers. It picks up the signals from the trafficmaster network and include a free lifetime subscription. I think they were launched in 2003. Was thinking of fitting one if I can get one cheap enough. ![]() |

Offline | The button was fitted into the Plastic moulding fitted around the driver side outer face level vent (round one). I have an MG version in my MCS and the alerts have saved by bacon on more than one occasion. Last edited by chris.lamb : Mar 17th, 2007 at 08:36 AM. Reason: added picture |

Offline | Jambuster Not spoken to them yet, but will try and get hold of the official install procedures. There is some guy on here that is the bees knees, and he posts various documents to help us DIYers out. I got the manual for the retro fit computer of him! |

Offline | WOW! Where you lot all been hiding for the last month! I'd almost given up on this one, I've been struggling to get any info, and I'm not even sure if the thing was ever called MINI Jambuster. Maybe a thread titled MINI Trafficmaster would have got more attention..... Anyway, looking at the bits I received off ebay, I'm not sure I've got everything I need either. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks. |

| Cooper Reborn | It Proper name is 'Mini Messenger. Since I pm you I found a bit more about it.................... Quote: BMW Messenger. Real-time information to keep you moving. More and more journeys are now affected by congestion, and as the latest projections show, the problem is only going to get worse in the future. However, with BMW Messenger, using real-time information from the Trafficmaster network, drivers get early warning of delays and jams ahead and can re-route to avoid them - thus saving travelling time and making more productive use of their day. For fleet customers of BMW, BMW Messenger can make a real difference to the productivity (and morale!) of company car users. The retail price of BMW Messenger is £360 inclusive of VAT (but excluding fitting which takes an hour). The price covers not only the BMW Messenger hardware but also a lifetime subscription to the service provided via Trafficmaster. For models from the MINI range, the MINI Jambuster is available, based on the same Trafficmaster Messenger technology. What is BMW Messenger? BMW Messenger gives the driver real-time traffic flow information, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, based on the location and direction of their vehicle. The Trafficmaster network of sensors, transmitters and cameras are positioned throughout the UK on all major motorways and trunk roads (excluding Northern Ireland). When traffic speed drops below 30mph the system automatically transmits a report via the National Control Centre. Relating this information to the position of the individual vehicle, BMW Messenger then informs drivers approaching the hold-up of its location and expected delay. In 'audible' mode BMW Messenger over-rides radio, cassette or CD to inform the driver of his or her location, followed by details of the traffic problem, the approximate length of any tailback and the likely delay, highlighting the position of the hold-up by reference to junction numbers. The driver then has the opportunity to detour in order to avoid the hold-up. BMW Messenger can be set to 'silent' mode, warning of delays via the unit's green or red LED warning light. A 'motorway only' mode is also selectable which suppresses information about adjacent trunk road delays. Fitting BMW Messenger Installation of BMW Messenger can be carried out at any BMW Dealer (or MINI Dealers for MINI Jambuster) and is a swift and simple procedure. The retail price for fleet customers is £360 plus fitting which takes an hour; this cost includes a lifetime subscription to the Messenger service. Wonder if Mike (mickithemini) has any info? |

Offline | Volte, Looks like we're missing an adaptor harness of some type. Should connect the "black box" to the buttons and the car (power & radio interface). I have also searched high & low and can't find any installation info on the web. Anyone? |

Offline | Phoenix, not the right one I'm afraid. That one converts old style BMW round pin to Iso connectors. The lead we need will have 1 multway rectangular connetor on one end (to black box) and then possible 3 connectors on the other end, (radio, button, light), but I am not sure. Thanks for looking! |

Offline | Result! Just realised that I've got notification turned off for this thread for some daft reason. I've not got anywhere, but it looks like you're making progress! top marks! Where did you find this adaptor and how much is it? Compared to the pictures of the set I've only got the messenger box and one lead with a traffic master button on the end in my set. What is the second button for, or is it an alternative? Also my button is round not square. Cheers, Michael |
