Offline | Radio Reception Gurus...What's This Mean ? When I use my AM radio, it sounds like I have blown speakers. You know, rattling cones, buzzes, etc. It's not any one speaker as I've done the right, left thing and it's coming from both, and therefore sounding like it's in the dash center. When using FM and CD thee's no problem whatsoever, not even at heavy volume. If I remove the antennae while using AM, the reception worsens (of course), but the buzzing and rattling go away. ???????????????????????? Ken Shapiro Electric Blue w/ Sport Package...first "S" delivered in Maryland (5/10/02) I've been everywhere but the electric chair...I've seen everything but the wind. |

Offline | Hi I am putting this question here, as the other thread in Faults and fixes might not get enough responses. Now any of you guys that have changed for head unit how is your AM reception. Do you suffer from this buzzing in the speakers with you aftermarket head unit? |

| Bad Dog, Moderator | Is this an amplified antenna? Is it overloading the front end of the AM section? I am *not* a radio engineer and have no training in this field but this is my gut feeling. | Bad Dog, Moderator | Re: Radio Reception Gurus...What's This Mean ? Ken- Just did same test (removal of antenna) and got same result. Antenna has too much gain for front end of AM section of receiver. Now need a radio guru to tell me if a small resistor would help. gromit Chili Red / Black Roof Cooper "S", delivered Aug 5, 2002.
