From what I've read - not personal experience - there's no signal, you need the adaptor

Hi,

The R53 MCS (and I dare say all Gen 1 MINIs) has a speed related signal available at the drivers side sill.

Not sure if you have a Gen 2 MINI, but the wire may still be there.

Have a look at this thread:

Cheers,

AprilWhine fitted a GPS unit and said there was a pulse wire. I'll send her a PM and see if she can guide you to it.

As per Mikeythemini, the pulse wire in a MINI is missing in the GP. Fuzzy went crazy tearing the GP apart looking for it.

In other MINIs, just use the search function and you'll find lots of posts with pictures on the location of the speed sense wire. Good luck!

Just out of curiosity, where is the location of this "speed sense wire" in non GPs? Is this the same wire (located at drivers door sill) as I mentioned in my previous post ?

We are talking Gen1 MINIs, aren't we?

Trying to make this thread a bit more user friendly...that's all
