DIY Fitting new Radio

Hello,

Sorry if these questions have already been asked but after reading through the forums im now totally confused and need help.

Ive just bought a SONY CDX DAB6650 radio, and a dab aeriel adapter for the car ( eBay.co.uk: DAB adapter for normal car antennas (item 130114946080 end time 21-May-07 22:55:43 BST) ) - 1 of them.

is there anything extra that i need to fit this?

Ive found a few instructions on here for removing the center stack but non specifically for the radio. Does any one have any instruction that can help me get the stock one out and put in the new one??

Or would it be easier going to the dealer and asking them to it?

Your thoughts and wise words are welcome.

You are probably going to need a new mounting faceplate and some extra bits.

You can get them here.. NewMINIStuff.com

Mikey also has some directions on the WEB and if you need help installing he is better at this than the dealer. (probably cheaper as well).

Nope, it is a special BMW harness. You will need to convert it. There are two styles that you have to deal with Boost and Wave, so you will need to figure out what you have before ordering from Mikey.

Well, if you have Harmon Kardon, you can look at your front speakers and the grill will say Harmon Kardon on it. If it so happens that you do, you will need an HK Enabler from Mikey to get the new head unit to work with the HK system.

Just take your time and don't cram anything.... Pinched wires can happen but if you are careful, it should be very easy.
