Offline | Best SatNav head unit?? Hey folks! I'm new here and very curious about all things MINI at the mo (you can blame a friend for that!! lol) Anyway, im looking at getting a MINI cabrio next, and i've always vowed to have SatNav on my next car. Now, i originally thought about getting a car with factory fitted satnav, butter after a closer look, i really dont think it suits the style of the mini...too square hehe!! After looking through the ICE forums i think the best solution is to go for a motorised head unit with sat nav built in. Question is...which one!!! I may be trying to keep the budget down, but im after a few things for the head unit: 1. Motorised screen...cool as in my opinion and keeps the style of car clean when not used. 2. SatNav...have used in the past and found it very useful. Saves on a map book lying around the car! 3. Ability to use screen for possible rear view camera? I've heard about visibility issues on cabrios so might come in handy!! 4. Touchscreen...i imagine this feature would be useful for safety and ease of use. Not really sure what other features to look for that i would need.... Anyway, now i've rambled on (as i often do!!), i'll hand things over to you guys...what do you think would be the best unit for me?? Obviously id like it as 'economical' as possible, but realise thats not easy! Ciao for now and thanks in advance!! Spence New here and looking for help!!! |

| MINI2 Regular | I've got a Clarion setup with the vrx868 head and nax963 sat nav unit installed under my seat. I like it but I'm a little disappointed by the post code search and Clarions complete lack of updates. Also the phone hands free kit is useless, but the parrot evo plugs in easily and works fine! The ipod kit is also brilliant and gives you a really good interface on the touch screen ![]() If Clarion ever pull their finger out and release a software upgrade it would be perfect. If anyone knows of a firmware update please tell! ![]() |
