Help!! - Blank Screen Sat nav

well that didn't go well
Anyone know how to get the sat nav back?, tried the v26 update on my Mark III drive but it didn't like it and has now left me with a blank screen...Help, tried various things to reset it but it won't have it - the only software i have is the map disk and various firmware updates ( V26 which i tried, V21 & V29..and the Key CD ) ...help much appreciated..

No worries.... Sounds like you didn't burn it in mode 1. Also, burn at the lowest speed. Pop the CD in and turn the key to position two. What has happened is that the OS section on the firmware is toast, but the boot sector is not. It should boot the CD again and install the software.

FYI, I am going to reburn the MDF file into an ISO image to make it easier for you to do in MAC. The image may not have burned correctly. My MK4 did this once.

Just tested that V26 that I have on my site..... It seems to be some test version. Still worked on my car, but I don't like it. So, I am going to go find the original V26 and get it loaded.

Sat Nav blank Screen

Hey Flakey,
Thanks, i was having kittens at the thought off having to visita Beemer service centre and the missus would not be too pleased either ( "gone and broken it already have you" ;-)
I'll hold off and hope that the other update works. It still lets me pop a CD in there and ejects with no problems so as you say, i dont think ( hope) its not fried it.
Thanks f - your a star
PS, burn't on a mac, and the files converted - methinks..also done at 1x speed on high quality disk.

File is uploaded and much larger (as it should have been). I looked at the other disk that I had out there and it looks like only the MK4 stuff was on it. Sorry....

This is the full version. Lastly, make sure Mode1 is used and burn it slowly. Make sure you can access it with your computer. It may take a couple of min to boot in the NAV. Be patient.

i had a CD based system in my 52 reg cooper s, tried an upgrade and it messed it up. Took me a good couple of days to learn how the system worked to find a fix for it. Got the upgrade loaded on in the end and got a map disk from ebay but didnt notice any changes...SO....

I got a mk4 DVD drive from ebay, havnt looked back since, its so much better. save your time and money and look for a DVD system.

DIY Help!!

Hi there,

I know I am not strictly a MINI user (though I often get one as a courtesy car!) but I have a major prob with my BMW e46 sat nav. I tried to go to version 2.91 with a download from the x5 website, everyone else seems to have it working fine. Mine doesn't

The disk was put into the dvd drive in the car, turned to ignition point 1, then....the system tries to read the disk...constantly and reboots....constantly.....nothing else happens!
And to top it all off the disk is stuck in the dvd drive...H E L P ! ! ! !

I think I made a big mistake by burning it onto a DVD r/w disk, fair enough but how to I get it out of the car??

Any help MUCH appreciated!!

thanks and Reagrds

Hold the eject button down for about 30 seconds and then press it trhee times. That should "hopefully" get the disk out. Then you can reburn 29-1 to another CD and try again.

You can get a good copy of V29 from Simply MINI

Nope...no joy..

Thanks for the advice, but I have tried holding the button down, hitting it many times, for anything from 30 seconds to nearly 10 mins. Also tried removing the fuses to cut the power but no joy at all.

I am going to have to take it to the dealer tomorrow, lord knows what that will cost...!

Only other way that I know of is to manually remove it.

Sat Nav Still In The Dark

Hey Flakey,
I have downloaded the proper V26 file for the Mark 3 thats now on your site but still no joy, not sure if the sat nav is frazzled or it's simply not booting from the CD, i don't have a mode 1 or 2 option on my Mac software ( toast but i have tried burning from the iso and have just opened the disk up and burnt all the contents into a data CD - all at x1 speed - ill try that after work and see how i get on.

I was looking around the Roxio forums and I don't see a way to make Toast Mode 1 or 2 selectable. Do you have access to someone with a Intel PC? I think that your problem is that the CD is in Mode 2 and the MK3 is choking on it.

For making disks of this nature I use Magic ISO.
