| MINI2 Newbie | Windscreen Wiper/ Alarm Stalk LED. I have a 2004 Cooper with NO alarm and would like to know if I can changed the windscreen wiper stalk for a newer one with LED on the end will it flash even though I have not got an alarm. (I dont have the low screenwash LED). So by installing just the stalk will it function as a decoy alarm system. I also have the visibilty pack with autowipers that are activated from this. Any advice on if this will work, where I can buy the stalk from and how I wire it up is much appreciated! |

Offline | If you just replace the stalk, the LED won't flash unless you get the BCU reprogrammed to add alarm function. You can buy the stalk from BMW/MINI dealer or sometimes they appear on ebay but check the part number required @ RealOEM.com Online BMW Parts Catalog. Not sure if the alarm LED wiring is always fitted, so you may have to run cable from the BCU to the stalk as well. Hope this helps. If you need any more info, just ask. |

| MINI2 Newbie | Thanks for the response. I have looked for the part number off RealOEM but am struggling to find the part that has autowipers and alarm? Most have the alarm but just the wiper switch. If/ when I find the part how do I go about fitting it? Thanks again. |

Offline | I think the part you need is :- 61316946961 see here :- RealOEM.COM * BMW R53 Cooper S STEERING COLUMN SWITCH To change the stalk you need to remove the column mounted tacho and the upper column cowl, the stalk then slides out sideways after removing 1 screw. If you go ahead post again and I can give step by step instructions. It is easy, I have fitted a stalk with red LED on BOTH sides of my column, then wired together they both flash with my alarm on, very nightrider !? |

| MINI2 Newbie | Thanks again for the response. My wipers (and obviously autowipers) are on the right which is where I want the alarm. I dont understand the page on the link you gave me totally but the diagram shown says it is for item 1 that is the stalk on the left of the steering wheel? There doesnt appear to be a right hand stalk with autowiper and alarm system. Be great if you could have another look and see if you can make sense of it? Thanks |
