HELP! Volume control on steering wheel isn't working!

Help!

I have a 2005 MINI Cooper with the two spoke multifunction steering wheel. The switch that controls the volume and mode (change between radio and CD) isn't working. The other switch, the one that controls changing the radio station or CD track is working fine.

Any ideas about why is this happening?

Is it easy to repair, or should I take it to the dealership?
