Thumbs up JVC or Alpine? Advice on setting up!!!

Hi
I am considering either an Alpine CDE-9850Ri or a JVC AVX33 headunit.

Can anyone reccomend either of these 2? The Alpine seems a solid buy. After owning one a while back I thought they were pretty solid sound wise plus the alpine I menchened I have seen online for £129!!!

Also what else do I need to buy? Obviously there is the fascia adaptor but what about adaptor leads and aerial amplifier??

If you could point me in the right direction that would be great! Cheers

NewMINIstuff is the place to go to - they have a complete kit with all the adaptors you need

Im guessing the above is what I would need to do it all and I just state to them what brand it is such as Alpine, JVC etc

Plastic or rubber fascia? Surely plastics better?

If i were you mate, id go for the Alpine any day... Although JCV is generally cheaper, i find from a my own and a few of my friends head units by Alpine are much better then others JCV, but if your looking for good sound quality and functionality.... Alpine is the future

Also the rubber fascia isnt completely rubber it just has a rubber coating to match the smooth texture of the rest of the retro dash....

If you have steering wheel controls and want them to work with the new HU, and if the new HU is compatible, you might want to look here too:

I've not seen the rubber fascia adaptor. Maybe I should order one just to see

I think I am swaying towards the alpine especially as my last one was really good sound wise even with just the standard speakers
I was prob lookin at a max of £200 for an alpine which can get you something good and made for iPod which is what I want where as the few hundred quid more JVC AVX-33 doesnt have a lead for an iPod which is about £40 more.

Also thanks for the info about the fascia! Think I will be getting the rubber one you said about now.
