Found a supplier of some alcantara material for a non automotive project, similar to the stuff on the JCW steering wheel and available on the Works seats.

Just wondering has anyone else used alcantara on any other parts of their interior, as I'm toying with the idea of ordering some extra metres of the stuff to retrim the top of the dashboard on my S.

Going ahead and getting a sample for my first project. Just wondering has anyone any experience of the stuff.

If your car is a facelift, then you cant retrim the dash top as the passenger airbag deploys through the dash top, where as the pre facelift deploys through the dash front

Cheers, just wonder if its going to be hard to clean, as I guess it will trap hairs and dust etc. Need to see the quality of the sample I get first.

ive retrimmed my dash top and glovebox areas on both sides in alcantara. Ill get some pics up tomorrow

Thats what i'm thinking of doing, although, not the seats. Anybody know if its expensive to get work like this done?

my boot conversion had to have a second floor built over to cover the amp and that was all trimmed in alacantra very tidy looking doesnt reli take too much effort to clean damp cloth or a hoover usually makes it looks brand new just feels really nice lol!

I did mine in leather and alcantara i did the down tubes in it alcantara and other highlights throughout the car.

I also did this dash conversion into a mk 2 golf and trimmed the whole lot in alcantara pretty much with a few leather highlights. these pictures are quite old the dash is almost finished now.
