Offline | dension gateway 300 Well I fitted the gateway 300 with the bluetooth option last weekend and I have a few questions/ issues that I,d appreciate some help with if anyone else out there has had experience. The software version is V2.01 and I,ve tried both my ipod colour and my new ipod classic. The ipod colour does not work! - It just continually connected and disconnects straight away in a loop, so unusable. The ipod classic seems to work very well, although the whole process is somewhat 'clumsy'. I,d like to know if anyone can email me a newer version of firmware - dension have so far sent me a version which doesn't load, although they didn't tell me which version it is! Also a question about the bluetooth option - as mike pointed out, an incoming call is displayed as the phone number, not the caller id, which is a great shame, IMHO. Is this a limitation of the gateway, my phone (motorola k1), or the bluetooth technology? Manby thanks to anyone who can answer or help, Cheers, Texy |

Offline | Hi Mike, it was originally purchased July or August, and is currently running BMW_AA_V2.01 software - so I hope that answers your question. Strang thing is that when I first got it, I didn't bother connecting my new classic ipod as I assumed it wouldnt work, so I connected my ipod colour. On the initial splash screen I got the firmware version mentioned above, then I used my usb stick to enable the text display and since then, the ipod continually reboots, ie connects and disconnects. So I thought I,d connect up the classic and its works fairly well, altho clumsy as stated above. Dension sent me a new file yesterday - G3AB_UPD.ROM and I put it on my usb stick, but the gateway does nothing with it - it just plays the last mp3 that it played last time the stick was connected. They told me it was V2.06, and that the new classic fix software is due for release on the 9th November. Texy |

| Hangin at the Krusty Krab | Hmmm, been thinking about the Gateway systems. Website not much help, so here goes.... I'd be interested in knowing if the Gateway (200+) could replace the plethora of boxes I have in my dash....... 1) Can you fit the Gateway with aftermarket HUs (Sony) and will it display ID3 tags? 2) If you already have an icelink+, can you use the existing cradle and HU interface leads, and just replace the icelink+ wafer with the Gateway box? 3) With the bluetooth interface, can/how do you make calls? Or is it just a passive receiver? 4) Would the Gateway act as a decent interface with a separate SatNav unit (one with aux out socket) to play directions over the stereo? Any help appreciated!! Paul. |

Offline | No, the website isn't that helpful, but the technical support team are better - register here and raise a ticket to ask any specific questions : Dension - Support I can answer 3 & 4 !! To make a call, select the phone as a source then press the 'next track' button and you will enter handsfree mode, so on my k1 I simply say 'call home'. To end the call hit the 'previous track' button. Yes the gateway 300 (maybe the 100, don't remeber) can be used as it has 3 input sources - ipod, usb and analogue aux. Dension have sent another email and rom file to me as they sent the wrong one, so I,ll give that a go after work. Still interested in answers to the bluetooth questions. Thanks, Texy |

| MINI2 Master | A ha. Sorry for the thread hijack, but this is what I've been waiting for for quite some time. Mikey, do you sell the Bluetooth option for the Dension 300? I'm keen to get USB and Bluetooth with a factory head unit and plan to buy a post-facelift Boost CD unit. If you do sell these, can you tell me the price? Are you happy that they work OK? Cheers Oli |

Offline | Answering for Mike, although I,m hoping he will add to this thread Yes - they are on his website - its the same unit that is listed against the gateway 100. For some reason it is NOT listed on his gateway 300 page![]() NewMINIStuff.com Mike has his own thread on the gateway products also : http://www.mini2.com/forum/interior-...th-option.html Texy |

| MINI2 Master | Ahh, awesome! Thanks for that Texy. My next task is to get a CD Boost from eBay. Mikey, you said in another that you only get the phone number on the display with certain radio models only. Can you clarify? Is the CD Boost model that has the buttons arranged down either side of the stereo (three each side) the one to go for? Thanks again Oli |

Offline | I believe that there is only one Mini single CD player (ie no 'wave' CD), and it is as you describe. I was lucky to get a new one off ebay for only £66 ! Here is another one : Find Bmw mini cd player 56 plate as good as new on eBay within, BMW, Car Parts, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 01-Nov-07 14:33:36 GMT) Note that if you currently have the wave cassette player then you will also need a harness adapter to go to the boost CD. I got mine from mike when I got the bluetooth adapter - NewMINIStuff.com Texy |

| MINI2 Master | Hi Texy At any given time, there was only one choice of single slot CD, but Mini changed the manufacturer and design at or around the time they did the facelift. The older ones are made by Alpine and the newer ones, I believe, Siemens VDO. The newer ones are capable of playing MP3 CDs. I bid on the eBay auction you posted, but was pipped at the post! Annoyingly, I bid early because I was due to be in a meeting at the time the auction ended and then my meeting got delayed so I could have bid in the closing seconds. Cheers Oli |

Offline | Ah yes, of course - I forgot about the newer facelift version (thats what I have had in both of my MCS's). Still if your fitting the gateway, then you don't need to have the newer facelift CD HU. If you listen to a lot of new music (ie regularly adding to you collection) then I would recommend getting the 300 as it has a USB port and its a lot easier to carry music on a stick rather than burn a new mp3 CD. | I miss my MINI | Well, now that the 2nd gen model has changed the radio, they are both old but they "old" boost that Richard posted was still being made through 2006 and was installed in all USA model cars. The major difference between the two besides vendor is that the VDO one will decode TMC (a function that USA is just now moving to). So, if you have NAV and live in Europe, that is the radio that you want. I "upgraded" USA model to the VDO version as just for that feature and have been loving it ever since. ![]() Global Moderator ![]() Last edited by DaFlake : Nov 6th, 2007 at 05:43 AM. |

| MINI2 Master | OK. I've bought from eBay something made by Seimens VDO that looks exactly like the later 2005/2006 units, but which came from a 2004 plate Mini. What I'm still unclear about is whether all these units (which outwardly look identical) are the same in terms of the text capabilities. I will find out soon enough -- ordered the kit from you last night. :-) Oli Last edited by oldnell : Nov 5th, 2007 at 08:33 PM. Reason: sp |
