| MINI2 Master | Aerial extension Having installed a Dension box and a Boost CD unit in place of the original Wave, and not being fond of rattles, I have rather too many wiring loom adapters behind the stereo. I have the Wave to Boost adapter from Mikey and was considering removing the socket crimps from the end of the factory loom and plugging each wire into the corresponding wire from the loom adapter. I'd either squash or solder the connection so they don't come loose and would use a heatshrink insulator around each connection. I'd then tuck the excess cable back down where it came from. The end result would be as if the car originally had a Boost stereo, except for one thing. That is that the aerial lead would not be long enough. Does anyone know if you can get an aerial extension for the Mini's weird connector? Mine's a January 2003 build. Secondly, am I mad to even think about doing this? With 84000 miles on the clock, I'm not going to sell the car -- I'll drive it until it goes no more. Oli |

Offline | Theres loads of room in there - both below the radio - & enough room for a small car behind the speedo & rattles are never normally an issue if cable ties & free cloth tape are used![]() But to answer your question, I have never seen a FAKRA extension. You could use a fakra to din adaptor then a din back to fakra adaptor. This would give you around22cm |

| MINI2 Master | Thanks, Mikey. I never thought about behind the speedo. ![]() And now I know what that funny aerial extension is called, which is much better. Will try some cable ties. I didn't use the cloth tape in the end, as it was quickly getting dark on Saturday when I was installing the bits. I plan to do it again properly this weekend. Cheers Oli |
