Harman Kardon Stereo faulty when wet

I’ve had my 03 MCS for just over a month and love it but one annoying thing is when the car gets wet the front left speakers sound tinny and muffled. After a couple of days drying it seems to sort itself out.

Has anyone any suggestions where the problem may be or experienced anything similar.

Thanks

Andy

AndyV, welcome to the forum. If it is just eh left front speaker, you might need to pull the door card and see how wet it is getting. It sounds like you have a bit of a leak in there and should get that sorted.

It's also worth opening the boot, and popping off the right hand side cover. The HK amp lives in here, have a looksie if there's any evidence of moisture in there, and if so, check all the rubber seals for signs of wear, and if that fails, hope inside the car, close the boot, and get a friend to spray the rear lights and top brake light with a hose to see if there's water coming in, where it's originating from.

Hi Andy,

The doors are designed to allow water to drain from the bottom of them, if you look up at the base of the door there are a couple of drain holes... if these are blocked, you may have water collecting inside the door. Thats a good place to check

Thanks for all the suggestions, I'll look at all of them.
