I think the genuine one is £100 or so, but it depends on what you call cheap I guess. If you want a quality one I would steer clear of the universal ones as I guess they won't be the best. If you went for the genuine one I think that the lead time would be 3 days or so from BMW if they order it in.

I'm not too sure I'd want to fit a "cheap" armrest in mine I'd rather do without and save the cash!

At the other end of the spectrum there's always:

GT TUNING PERFORMANCE Posh Mini Styling

I've never tried an armrest in a MINI, but I'd be concerned that it would get in the way of gearchanges and the hand brake....

Why do you need a penknife in your tool kit? Surely that counts are a deadly weapon. As would the maglite if it was of the larger variety!

Hmmm... I too would be worried about gear changes and handbrake accessibility when fitting an armrest in a car as small as the MINI. Best to drive enthusiastically enough to keep booth hands busy at all times.

I'm pretty sure the police with be none-too-happy with the penknife. As for the MagLight, I've got a full-sized version in my glovebox.

I've had one fitted as an option when I ordered new. Its too far back to interfere with either gear stick or handbrake.

Anything can be classed as an offensive weapon - it's the intent that's important. Depending on what you were planning on doing with it, a tea spoon, or even a pencil sharpener, could be classed as an offensive weapon! I always carry a decent penknife with me in the car and it's used (legally) daily...

I once asked a Hells Angel why he carried an axe with him on his bike and he said it was for chopping fire wood while camping, apparently ....

LOL!

Yep, and those red stains on the blade were from... erm... red sycamore trees?

Or squirrels that got in the way?

Has anybody got either of the above in their mini, if so how easily were they fitted and are you pleased with them?!

Think from this MINI reckon it's a 10-15min job.

If you do get one off eBay or secondhand make sure it's out of an R50 or R53 solid roof (sunroofs included) as I had one at the side for ages out of a R52 or R53 soft top and when I went to fit it into an R50 for the other ½, the base / centre console is about 1 inch / 20cm shorter , this was a genuine OEM one though, you can get others that fasten to the seat base's and some are universal. ie fit hard tops & soft tops.

This will also apply vice-versa to anybody reading this thread .

Mine's the one on the left.

When you think back, mum's are always right in the end, even if you didn't think so at the time .

The genuine ones are good & good quality, the cheaper universal ones, you don't know what your getting until it arrives, some can be quite good and others are absolutely rubbish, some people probably don't even fit them, they will all be on eBay as unwanted Christmas presents in the New Year .

I have seen some genuine used ones, not even complete, do stupid money on eBay from time to time just because they're quite rare .

Mine's the one on the left.
