Mike or speaker thing in corner of dash/windscreen?

We've just bought an 05 plate Mini privately and I didn't notice straight away when we picked it up that its got what looks like a little speaker or mike about 4 inchs tall in the right hand corner of the windscreen and dash. It is hardwired behind the dash so presumably its to do with a phone.

I am booking it in with the dealer for a service soon so will ask them but wondered if anyone knows what it is. I'll try and get a picture of it.
