Offline | Ipod controls & menus on Sat Nav screen? Hi all, I have searched around for this on the forums but can't find a solution. I have a 2002 MCS with SAT NAV, I'm wondering if there is any solution out there that lets me navigate through my ipod menus using the SAT NAV screen as this is far better than using the limited display on the head unit or ipod itself - its a perfect size screen by the looks of things to navirgate through my music. I'm not bothered about looking at video clips or photos from my ipod on the SAT NAV screen, just track selection (in fact my ipod is old and doesn't support photos or vids anyway) I currently have a dension Ice link plus system so I don't know if that can be used in conjuction with some kind of option, but I'm not bothered if I have to replace it with something new. Sorry if this is already covered on here but I can't find it. ![]() Many thanks all ![]() |

| Lovin' every MINI of it! | Should still work as this just plugs into the CD prep You will need the Intravee and a KCA-420i Alpine Electronics of America, Inc. - KCA-420i The KCA controls the Ipod and the Intravee interfaces with it. Global Moderator ![]() |

Offline | If you have a CD changer (or more accurately the pre-wiring for one) then it's plug and play. The CD wire goes into one port on the Intravee and the Alpine iPod interface goes into the other. The Intravee is then controlled through the CD Changer source of the Boost head unit with the CDC itself removed from the car (if it had one). It's all done in the boot, and even with an HK amp in there also it all fits in the little cubby on the right hand side. My Intravee is a pre-production one from the beta test programme and I had some minimal setup to do but I'm sure the production ones are either preconfigured or are easily configured to suit your specific stereo (they can be set up to work with non-nav and a variety of BMW OE audio systems). Note you can also add DAB (if you're in Europe and you can find an Alpine module) or Sirius (I believe) radio and you can add an Alpine CD changer if you want to use old technology as well as new. | Lovin' every MINI of it! | You should read more about it on their site.... Yes, you can use your steering controls as the Intravee reads information from the Ibus. It is sort of fed through the headunit (sound and such) but also fed up to the Nav. Global Moderator ![]() |

Offline | So...How did it work out for you?? I got the original Mini iPod kit for my car and you can control the iPod through the steering wheel buttons but you can't see what song you're playing, you can only press 1-6 (the preset radio station buttons) and that will correspond to playlists called MINI1-6 which you set up on your iPod. This isn't really what I wanted - I wanted tracks to be shown etc. Did you get the Intravee working? The damn iPod kit cost me £300 cause it took them 2 hours to install it! Could the wiring (or whatever) that I have now be used to interact with the Intravee? I have an iPod charger-type cable in my glovebox. Thanks |

| Lovin' every MINI of it! | The intravee plugs directly to the CD changer harness so you would have to remove the old harness. As mentioned above, you have to have the Alpine unit which controls the Ipod to use the Intravee. I have one and it works great. I do have some noise on my line but I think it is due to a bad harness install. I will dig into it more later down the line. Honestly it is a great kit.... costly.... but great. Offline | Can it be installed on your own or do you need a garage to do it? (I'm not really into playing around with cars) I'm worried that if it takes a while for a garage to do I'll have to pay big bucks to get it installed...Also, I guess that means I can't use the original Mini iPod kit I currently have? ![]() |

Offline | If you have the OEM iPod kit installed then by far the most difficult part of the install will be getting rid of it! Although they shouldn't, some installers cut the original wires when they install it, making removing it a bigger job. Once you have the system back to operate a CD Changer you can get it connected and working in about 1 minute. If you want the iPod up front then it will take longer to route the cables etc. but there is not much advantage as the KCA-420i locks out the iPod when connected anyway. |
