Isofix Question

hi guys,

as you may know i recently bought myself a lovely mini cooper s (still loving it!!). Anyhoo, shortly we'll be needing to buy a baby seat and i dont really understand this isofix stuff.

how do i know if my mini has isofix? if it hasnt can isofix be retro fitted? i have a 2003 mini cooper s. If it can be retro fitted any ideas how much it costs?

thanks in advance.

tim

it cant be retro fitted to my knowledge.

It is pretty obvious if you have them, I have big flaps in the back seat that allows access to them.

If in doubt ask a dealer, they should be able to track if that option was fitted when car produced.

If you have it there will be 4 flaps in the rear seat base
If you dont have it I think it could be retro fitted as from memory my old S had the bolt holes for the isofix mounts - you would also need a new lower seat section

I dont have isofix

Think it would be expensive to buy those back seats with the isofix slots you linked too?

im thinking getting isofix is starting to sound expensive and not worth it.

When I looked into doing this, my local dealer advised that ISO fix can be retrofitted as the mounting holes in the body are always present and the brackets (Item 6 in above link) can be ordered as spares.

But the seat cushion/cover does need to be replaced to give access and seat parts are usually expensive as spares.

I would just go for a normal non ISO seat if you don't have them, I think they came in around 2004 04 builds when they did the facelift.
