At the British Mini show my car developed a rattle from the drivers door when I tried to demo the sound system.
Over the next few weeks it got worse going from a rattle when the stereo is turned up to being a rattle when going over slight bumps.
I took the door panel off but couldn't see anything
Drove the car with no door panel - no rattle
Door panel back on - rattle back
Found it today, it was the door panel itself the rattle was coming from, a few coins in the door pocket had gone down through the gap in the base of the door pocket, but instead of dropping into the door, there is a void inside the door panel & they were rattling inside it.
The solution - hold the panel upside down & insert plastic wedge to open up the gap & the coins came out.
Lesson learnt - dont put money in the door pockets
