Lumbar Support

Hi there, my wife has a Mini One D, with loads of extras but bog-standard seats. She has lots of problems with her back and has been told that she needs to get a car with adjustable lumbar support, which her seats don't have.

Are there any that do? Cooper S seats or JCW so that I can swap them over for her, otherwise she's gonna have to get a new car and she loves her little mini!!

Basically any 1st Gen Sports Seats have lumbar adjust, so it shouldn't be too hard to find some.

JCW seats probably won't do your wife's bad back any good though.

They'd have to be Leather or Cloth+Leather wouldn't they?

In the US Leatherette Sport Seats don't have an adjustable lumbar support either.

Now you're just showing off!

But seeing as the OP is in the UK, and we don't get vinyl (sorry, 'Leatherette') Sport Seats, it's a safe bet he won't be considering them for his wife's MINI

I know what your suffering from. I have JCW sparco buckets seats, i was talking about this today.

We were out on a run where I covered well over 200mile.. After lunch my back started to ache and it got worse til i got home. the next morning going to work i realised the lumbar support was turned in instead of out, since doing that I haven't had any back aches when driving.

When i used to suffer with my back, i never found the Lumbar supports in cars of any use..... so i bought one from Tempur, much better, plus it allows you to use it anywhere not just in the car

I've got one of their pillows (which is just fantastic!) for my bed:

Which lumbar support did you go for in your MINI?

Many thanks,
Andrew.

I'm sure my seats are the sports seats. They're full leather , heated, and are kinda bobbly with a pattern of tiny circles, not smooth leather. It also has the lumber support that the thread was about. I'm sure this is all right but someone please correct me if I'm wrong!!?

It's on a 51 plate cooper with chilli pack.

Thanks guys, gonna have to go on an ebay search! Are the seats easy to change? Do I need to be aware of any airbag problems (hmmm, do they have airbags in them???)

Probably have to wait a while as my wife is now suddenly "between jobs" and my car needs money spending on it so I can't afford to sub her.

She was lent one of the support cushions by her osteopath, but it didn't help, partly because it doesn't sit right on her seats as it has a rigid back to it and it doesn't curve with the seatback.

She'll just have to keep borrowing my car which has lumbar support and helps her enormously! Thanks again!

No Idea about changing them, but I know mine certainly have airbags in the seats. If you have the word 'AIRBAG' on a little tag or actually on the seat then they do. Each airbag has to be labelled.

Sorry I can't be more help.
