Offline | MINI Cooper S gets a *PERFORATED LEATHER* Steering wheel!!! NEW UK '03 additions/options added today! Today I went to my dealership to discuss the MINI PDA system (http://www.mini.com/pda/ and http://www.mini2.com/forum/showthrea...ght=MINI+PD A) and it's cost to be told that... Week 40 see's the following additions/options becoming available: 1). UK Harmon-Kardon system 2). UK Visibility Package 3). UK MINI Cooper "S" gets a *PERFORATED LEATHER* Steering wheel!!! 4). One or two other things but at this point I lost my concentration! My car was a Week 38/39 build. I had been asking all the way upto Week 37 whether they knew about any such Wheel changes being made, and if they were, then I'd want to delay build of my car until such time as I get these changes in my car. Now it seems that one week before I get my car, BMW makes the announcement that I wanted to know only two weeks ago and in the best of faith. I am due to pick my car up on Thursday 3rd October with the elder none Perforated steering wheel in it. I am going to try arguing my 'corner' on Monday 30th September by calling UK's MINI Customer Services on 01344 480880 to see if I can convince them that I did all I could and really should get access to these changes. Wish me luck - I'll update this thread - soon! Last edited by waynef : Sep 29th, 2002 at 04:26 PM. |

Offline | Hi everyone. I think that the "Week 40" was the build week. Not the delivery week. From my calculations, these are the 'weeks': 2002 weeks ========== Week36 = 2nd September (02/09) until 8th September (08/09) Week37 = 9th September (09/09) until 15th September (15/09) Week38 = 16th September (16/09) until 22nd September (22/09) Week39 = 23rd September (23/09) until 29th September (29/09) *Week40 = 30th September (20/09) until 6th October (06/10) Week41 = 7th October (07/10) until 13th October (13/10) Week42 = 14th October (14/10) until 20th October (20/10) Week43 = 21st October (21/10) until 27th October (27/10) So a Week40 build by my reckoning is *THIS WEEK*. My car was made Week38/39. SO you can all see why I am a bit upset. Going to talk to MINI Customer Services tomorrow. Watch this space... ![]() |

Offline | My dealer is giving me a follow up call tomorrow after a few days of S ownership. I'm going to raise this question with him and try to get some truth. I honestly can't believe it's for build week 40 as when my point of no return came (week 34, build wk37) these options were still not "orderable" on the system ![]() MINI, RX8 and MX5 - Done those............. Offline | Dear all, I was mistaken. The standard amendments come on-board Week 48. The printout was quite grotty. The standard amendments to the MINI Cooper "S" (MSC) are as follows for those lucky enough to get them ![]() 1). Anhrachite Trim (available) 2). Perforated Leather Steering wheel 3). All pedals in Stainless Steel (to match foot rest) Sorry for the mistake. ![]() |

Offline | Hi Doc, According to the "MINI ONE. MINI COOPER. MINI COOPER S AND MINI ACCESSORIES PRICE LIST 2002" the Visibility Package is: £144.68 + £25.32(VAT) = £170.00 That's the price for factory-fitment, but if you have it fitted at the dealer later that would incur an extra labour cost I guess. For those that don't know, the Visibility Package (in the UK) comprises of the following: a). Heated windscreen Great feature for 4 months a year, annoying wires in the window for 12 months. b). Rain Sensor Great idea, but no competition for RAIN-X. c). Automatic Dipping Interior Rear View Mirror. My E36 318SE BMW worked a treat, my newer E46 318SE BMW however didn't seem to work at all well and was more trouble than it was worth in the end. Personally I'd save my money and a few extra kilo's of electronics and heavier glass and be happy ![]() |

Offline | No pictures - sorry. :( Hi phattbam No pictures at all. Neither has MINI UK or any Dealers. We are all waiting for the BMW/MINI Intranet to be updated until we see what these changes actually look like. I am now ok with not getting these on my car. I'll be too busy concentrating on the fantastic drive to worry about dirt-encrusted perforations in the steering wheel and slippy stainless steel pedals! ![]() All the best, |

Offline | I don't know but the term 'intranet' usually refers to private networks, not ones that can be seen over the internet. When I talk about the BMW/MINI intranet I talk about looking at a BMW/MINI access terminal in the dealership: not at home! ...but if anyone has got a URL for the BMW/MINI intranet/internet system believe me - I WOULD LOVE TO KNOW IT!!! ![]() ![]() |

Offline | Pictures found Hi all, casimir has taken close-up photo's of the Perforated Leather Steering wheel and a picture of the pedal too. Se them at: http://www.mini2.com/forum/showthrea...d&pagenumber=2 They're about half way down the page. You can't miss them. I guess that this is the end of this particular thread now. Bye. ![]() |

Offline | Lets hope! Personally the ones I have seen a solely in the Ford Focus and Mondeo (USA equivalent unknown) ranges. They are awful to drive at night with because they 'spread' sources of light across a much wider area. And that is a fact IMHO. Well, here in the UK anyway! ![]() |

Offline | Having spoken to my salesman, the rain sensing wipers and auto-dipping mirror can be ordered separately without the heated screen. This knocks £70 of the price of the visibility package. I'm not keen on seeing wires in the screen and was worried about cost/availability of replacement heated screens. So, I've just gone for the cheaper option.
