| MINI2 Regular | Does anyone here regularly use an iPod in their MINI? How do you connect it? Where do you keep it when you are using it? Have you found a suitable holder? I am picking up a new Cooper in a couple of weeks which will not have a CD multichanger or the neccessary wiring for one.I have read the thread in this forum which says that 2003 models have an AUX socket but nobody has confirmed this for sure! Can you? I have ordered a single slot CD player so that rules out tape adapters. I have only read bad reviews of FM adapters. What are my options? ![]() Black Cooper, White Roof, White 5 Stars, Chrome Shark Gill Side Vents, Red & Black Cloth/Leather and Silver, Chili Pack, Single Slot C.D. Offline | Search on here for iPod or Blitzsafe. If you've got the CD changer wiring a Blitzsafe adapter is available that works well. It goes in the boot and you run a headphone cable into the cabin to plug the iPod into. That's what I do. Apparently the 2003's do have an aux input on the back, put no-one's really sure where yet. Search for 2003 AUX for that thread. |

Offline | Plugged it in and routed the cable in less then 5 mins. ipod sits in the "cup" holder perfectly. (it even sits at a nice angle so that it's visible and adjustable while driving) I didn't realize how much i had missed having it in my car... I got the blitzsafe from www.cdadapter.com for $85 + $4 shipping... fantastic service from them too. |

| MINI2 Regular | Thanks for reading my post GMINI03. I'm still trying to work out how I can use mine. Offline | Fine. In that case you're SOOL. Go back to the crappy FM transmitters. We were only trying to help even though your post was about a subject that has been discussed SO widely in other threads. |

| MINI2 Regular | Oops! Looks like the toys have been thrown out the pram! If anyone can point me in the direction of a thread which discusses using an iPod with a single slot CD player WITHOUT the multichanger wiring I would be very grateful. All the suggestions I have came across rely on this wiring. Black Cooper, White Roof, White 5 Stars, Chrome Shark Gill Side Vents, Red & Black Cloth/Leather and Silver, Chili Pack, Single Slot C.D. Offline | girls, girls ! I'm in exactly the same situation too (well, I will be shortly, when I finally pick up the car). I almost opted for a tape deck so that I could use a tape-head adapter with the iPod, but I decided that was a bit crap. |

| MINI2 Senior | This seems to me a perfectly reasonable question. I don't think you're SOL. Not a lot of 2003 MINIs are in our driveways yet, so we've not yet heard from someone who's figured out how to use the new AUX port with an iPod. The mysterious port, though, seems rather well disguised and apparently isn't intuitively simple to use, so perhaps you should write MINI directly and ask them how you'd go about connecting an iPod? Their press releases seem to indicate clearly that the AUX port is available now for this sort of thing, and I'm sure they're getting a lot of questions now about how to use it. So, perhaps they'd love to tell you, with the thought that you'll spread the word for other iPod users. ![]() wynn Texan. Goofy. Sometimes witty. Pacifist. Imperfect, nice guy. Trying. |

Offline | Try the threads on 2003 AUX port.... Enough people have tried to find the 2003 aux port to know there is much confusion within MINI about it. The window stickers and the press release say it's there since 9/1 build date, 866-ASK-MINI says you need an adapter that dealers will be sent sometime. If the aux port is really there, no problem, just plug in your iPod with a simple headphone cable. If it's vaporware you're left with the only option being to get MINI to replace the HU with one that really does have an aux port or getting the sound in wirelessly through an FM modulator. That's it. The old stlye (2002) single CD head units with no CD changer wiring have no means to accept signals from the outside world. The new (2003) are supposed to have but it's looking rather hazy. The only way to know for sure is to look all over your particular headunit when you get it and see if there's a port or if your dealer knows anything about an adapter to make one available. Is that enough info? Shall I put the toys back in the pram now.? ![]() |

| MINI2 Regular | Thanks! I'll help you pick them up! I just phoned my dealer and he thinks that the AUX port won't be available on cars built now but will be available on cars built after March 2003. I kinda think he was guessing! He said that he had seen it mentioned in a press release that they were sent. I'm none the wiser - looks like it'll be CD's for me! PS What does SOOL stand for? I don't even know, but I guess it's bad! Black Cooper, White Roof, White 5 Stars, Chrome Shark Gill Side Vents, Red & Black Cloth/Leather and Silver, Chili Pack, Single Slot C.D. Offline | SOOL or SOL is S*** out of luck. (I'd guess its not a common phrase across the pond) Even if your dealer is correct (which doesn't mesh with what MINIUSA has been saying), maybe you can buy the aux enabled head unit from someone who replaces theirs, it should be cheap too, assuming it'd actually work with the new wiring. Magic 8-ball was correct. All be in awe of Magic 8 ball. |

Offline | Exactly... seems like a bit of a mess by MINI. The press release certainly said cars made after Sept 1st. I didn't believe it either, but someone provided a link to the actual press release. Dealers seem to know less than most people on these boards, at least until MINI catches up with the paperwork and brings them up to speed... It should be there, they say it's there, but no-one has yet found it, dealer or customer.... |

Offline | well there's always the blitzsafe i think the whole 03 thing stinks. but if you don't have the pre-wired cd changer cable. you can always buy the cd changer cable from the dealer and get the blitzsafe adaptor. this might be better too, since you can keep the cable in the front of the car instead of running cables from the rear. |
