Spirited Shifters

Just curious... have any of you yanked off the nob of your shifter in some rather spirited shifting. I, as well as three other people of done this in aggressive shifting. Whats a boy to do?

The waits over!! Frosted the Mini Cooper S arrived 11/05/02!!!

Exclamation

Yep, yanked it off after I had just taken delivery of the car while I was pulling out of the dealership lot. I was about to turn around and take it back!
Guess I was used to slamming gears like on my Hurst-equipped Borg-Warner T56 in my Formula. Can't do that with the MINI.

I'm not very fond of the design of the snap-on knob, reminds me of Leggo's. I have heard that someone is working with a company that makes a knob with a positive retention mechanism. I like the concept, except that it's made heavy on purpose, which I don't like. Plus it's metal, with no gear pattern on it. For $150+, I'd expect it to be leather wrapped at least.

What I have done in the meantime is to remove the knob and bend the metal clips inwards with a flat-bladed screwdriver. So far, this has been a sucessful fix.
