Question Tweeter without removing door Trims

HI

I need to get access to the audio from the stereo and I am thinking the tweeters might be the easy place to do this. So I was hoping one of you could tell me if it is possible to get the tweeters out with out removing the door trims.

Thanks

Snoopy

It'll be fiddly, but if you prise off the silver surround by the tweeter, it should be 'available'

Thanks Dom

I have had the silver trim off but I just can't seem to get the tweeter out of its housing. I though it was a "push" fit but looking at the moulding on the housing it looks like a "twist" and then remove type of action.

So I don't know if I am forcing the right bits to get the tweeter out.

Thanks

No, it's not twist... from what I remember it's clipped in, but it's been a while since I've seen a standard one

Thanks Dom by looking at some photos posted online my tweeters mounting system looks quite difference to what’s in the photos. But anyway I got the probes up and under the tweeter without removing them, so the problem has gone away until I start my ice install.

I believe that all levels of audio come with speakers. Eg the wave and Boost have tweeters in the top of the door and 5.25 in the lower doors and then 6X9 in the back.

If you spec the sound modul you get better tweeters in the top of the door and better 5.25 in the lower doors and then 6X9 with tweeters mounted in the middle of the cone (2 way speaker design)

Lastly for the H/K (all speakers are H/K design and carry their logo) you get tweeters in the top of the door and Mids in the top of the door with the tweeters. A better quality 5.25 in the lower doors and then DVC (some might call it BI amp) 6x9 in the back.

To add speakers to the door is fairly simple, you might need spaces for the woofers and a new mounting system for the tweeters but nothing to hard. Now the back 6X9 are easy to mount when you get to them. You have to take the rear seats out and then remove the trim panel that runs from just behind the door opening right the way back to the boot/trunk area. (well that's on my MINI)

I think I have seen talk on here that with newer rear trims the speaker grill comes out so you don't have to take the car to bits. Don't know for sure maybe someone else can confirm this or not.

this is actually true for all cars, but the screws are on the inside of the grill, so you have to get to backside of the trim somehow. either by removing the trim or prying it back from the door. in the end it's easier (and better from a preventing anything from breaking standpoint) to just remove the rear trim piece completely.

Thank you I did not think that it would not be screwed in some how, as doing the H/K grills would have been a nighmare otherwise.
