Offline | Alpine question I think im going to get the Alpine CDA 7894 for my mini. However, i know that only some of the alpine head uits have amber lights in America its the 7894 and the 7998 but im not sure if the 7894 in the states is the same model as over here in the uk?! Can someone who has got the 7894 in the uk clear up my query? Oh yeah and is the 7998 really worth the extra £300? All Alpine related opinions are most welcome ![]() |

Offline | Re: Alpine question here in the states you can almost buy 2 7894s for the price of one 7998! I just went through this and decided for the 7894, here are my thoughts... the 7998 has some cool features, like the fantom face and personalization options. But i think they're kind of gimmicky. The fantom face really isn't that much of a theft deterrant. You can tell the face isn't actually removed if you compare it to the 7894 with face removed, the difference is very obvious. the 7998 demands an external amp, even though i am running an external amp with my 7894, having the flexability is very nice. they both have 3 preouts at 4V they both have decent EQs the 7998 has the Bass Engine Pro over the 7894s Bass Engine Plus with the Fantom Face the face goes in and out everytime you start the car. think about this, the motor will have to go in and out quite a lot! I was worried about the motor durability! it's an expensve thing to fix! i hope some of this rambling helps! |

Offline | i just checked the alpine-europe site, yikes! the model numbers are different, the european 7894R is a totally different face then the american one! The UK7893R looks similiar to the US 7894, but it doesn't say anything about button illumination. to be sure I would find a dealer and check it out! |
