MFSW and signalling protocol

Hi guys, what type of interface is implemented between the Multi-Function Steering Wheel and the Head Unit?
Is it CAN?
I'm thinking of utilizing the last unused button for a GSM Handsfree hook switch. Are there any ready-made microcontroller-based interfaces around with a relay output or similar?
All interfaces I've seen is just for interfacing to a HU of some make.
Regards, Tore

That's what I've been looking for! Thanks Dean.
Have you seen any software or open source applications for microcontrollers and I-bus around?
I'm experienced with C and PIC's, maybe I should cook up a black box of some kind here...

There is a yahoo group to go with that web site. On the group site you will find copy of a circuit for a I bus to RS232 converter. Some very good info in the group and they don't mind sharing it, which is great.

Give us a hoy if you don't find the group and I will post a link.

If you are cooking I think you would have a lot of freinds if you did "cook up" a MFSW to Sony, Alpine, etc, ect
