Unhappy Fitting new rear speakers

O.k, so I'm pretty rubbish at d.i.y and stuff, but how do i get at my rear speakers so i can fit my pretty new infinity ones? And I'm talking step by step here, I'm a bit of a dumbass!!

Also, I've bought some 16cm speakers for my front doors, will they fit o.k??

thanks all.

Solid Black/White Cooper chili, white stripes, spots, 17" S-Spokes, HK, air-con, heated seats.. love it love it love it!!

Quick rundown:

Fold down rear seats
Locate bolt at base of seats in middle (looking from boot, is 10mm)
Loosen or remove bolt
Remove the seat backs (you will have to pull them out of the middle, then tilt them forward to remove them from the edge.
remove the three clips at the bottom of the panel where the boot latch is located
pull the panel upwards sharply to remove the remaining 4 clips.
For the large quarter panel (sides), remove the three screws in the boot area near the panel
Unclip around the edge and remove. This will take some time to learn where the clips are and how it's held on
Unscrew the standard 6x9's (these are small bolts rather than screws)
Put in your new 6x9's and screw in
Refit is the opposite of removal
I could write a haynes manual

If you get stuck, give us a shout.

16cm's will fit fine upfront but you will need to make spacers from MDF first.

You could also change the rear speakers by pulling off the panel just behind the front seats and removing the grill... this is a bit more fiddly though when fitting the new speakers but you might want to give it a go.

Hope that helps,

Dom

Hmmmm.

I wouldn't mind doing a straight speaker swap as well!
Please report back and let us know how they sound!
Also, which Inifinity speakers, does the factory head unit drive them ok, etc.
Thank you!
Best of luck with the install!

just realised a missed a bit from the front door card removal instructions... you'll have to pull off the silver surround for the tweeter and door handle before the door card comes off... or it'll fall off anyway

The speakers I'm (trying to) put in are Infinity 652i fronts and 6953i in the back. They look sweet, not that i'll be able to see them when they're in but hey?! I had a look at fitting them this morning then swiftly booked the car in with a hifi specialist to have them installed next sunday!!

I'll let you know how they sound when they're in.
