United-Kingdom Digital Radio (DAB)

I'm thinking of purchasing the Blaupunkt Woodstock CD/MP3 DAB.

Has anyone installed a Digital Radio System in their MINI? Is it possible?

Kinster,

Take a look at this thread - lots of stuff about the Blaupunkt and a pic too.

http://www.mini2.com/forum/showthrea...threadid=18915

You'll need to get either a glass mount aerial or contact a company called Electrotech (try google search) in York who have developed a diplexer which means the Woodstock will work with existing aerial (they are also just about the cheapest supplier of the Woodstock too).

My MCS arrives 1st March, but my local ICE dealer has told me that Becker are bringing out a new model called the Monza in next month or so. This will be an exact match with Mini interior (black finish and amber illumination) and will play MP3's which is what I want it for. Not sure about DAB.

Alternatively there's a new Pioneer DEH-5530MP coming out week after next which will also be black with amber and MP3 compatible. Take a look at home page of Pioneer web site.

Canada is switching slowly to DAB. The States are using something called XM satellite radio. Why would the states buck the trend as seeing that the rest of the world is starting to use DAB. If you have a DAB in your car will it work in the states?

Charles.

Doea Mini have it own DAB available yet?

Given the announcement that the Sirius satellite system is now available for the MINI in the US, maybe it's time to campaign for a MINI DAB digital radio box. DAB may have been a relative 'failure' in Germany but is slowly gaining momentum in the UK and other countries, and surely if the head units are made by Alpine (?) it might be possible to allow the external Alpine DAB adaptor box to be controlled by the MINI head units? I bet the answer is 'No' but is the external Alpine DAB box already compatible with the MINI head units? Has anyone tried connecting one? Wonder if the capability of Alpine DAB box control is in the MINI radio's software even if it has been disabled by Alpine?

I fitted DAB to my S, great range of stations but I am very dissapointed with the reception from my glass mount boosted Arat DAB aerial. Trying to find an alternative but the roof mount ones to replace the stock aerial are angled back to much thus hitting the spoiler when the boot is opened
