Post Mobile phone holder.

I have been watching many of the forums on the mounting a holder for mobile phone/PDA/MP3 and found that none were suitable for MINIs' with the glovebox fitted.

I have now found a suitable part which requires no modification to the dashboard and doesn't look out of place.

WHERE FROM I HEAR YOU ASK?

Well.....BMW sell what they call a Tele Kit, which boys and girls is a flexi bracket integrated into the passenger side centre console pillar (or whatever it is called. )

This replaces the existing pillar, and was originally found as part of the retro-fit phone installation kits. (see Technical - OEM Fitting Guides)

I have ordered one for research purposes:

Tele Kit - BM84.13.0.142.730 - £62.97 ex VAT
Expensive I know, but if it works then I'll be a happy chappy.

and will post a piccie when I get it on Wednesday.

NB, has anyone else fitted this item.

I have brackets in stock that require no drilling and work with the glove box lots cheeper at under £20

I have just installed a Dashmount phone holder that is fine with the glovebox. I believe mikethemini now stocks these. I got mine for £20, mike may sell them cheaper. Works well and requires no drilling. (Could be the one that zoooooom can offer?)

FONTAL.

The assembly is basically a mounting for whatever fone you have, so you[/u]would purchase for talking sake, a Nokia phone cradle that would support your mobie. (see www.nokia.co.uk )

This cradle would then screw onto the Mini pillar mounting.

I will try to scan the latest accessories brochure and post a piccie for you. If that don't work, I will take a foto 2moro when I get the part and post it then.

Hope this is helpful for you.

Scanner now had some sense kicked into it.....

The holder in its naked glory is pic 3, and pic 1 shows it fitted with the H/F kit for the Nokia 33XX.

Well worth the money as far as I can see, as it is more pleasing on the eye than a wee chunk of black metal, which in my opinion would encroach on the volume control of my Boost CD player.

(I got sausage fingers, so need all the space I can get)

NB. I will still post proper piccies 2moro of the bare unit prior to fitting and after installation, cos the scan doesn't do the thing justice.

That is EXACTLY what I've been looking for to mount my iPAQ. Is there a part number for just the downtube? Maybe mikeythemini can get them

CurtP

The part number is on the first post of this thread, which is for RHD vehicles.

Your friendly dealer should be able to find this for you.

It is found under the same section as the hands free phone kits.

Cheers

I thought that part number was for the entire kit, not just the downtube. I'll have to give my local dealer a ring.

However, last time I called them with part numbers that started with BM, he couldn't find them at all. Is there a different part number, so should I be able to have him look it up without the BM prefix?

As I suspected -- those part numbers that start out with BM don't work at my local dealership, even with the BM prefix taken off. I don't know if it's a difference between the US and EU part numbers, or that the part number just isn't any good in the US.

FWIW, I used the UK part numbers to check availability on the 6 position toggle switch bank, and to order the driver's side shelf with no problems.

*Update* -- just got off the phone with the dealer (was talking to him while I was typing this), and all he is showing is two part numbers:

An "upgrade" kit (whatever that is) p/n 84 64 0 139 561 which has no information in the computer about it, and a Motorola hands free kit p/n 84 64 0 148 199 which is $532 US (I'll pass, thanks!). These are the only two places which he could find the downtube with the gooseneck.

It sounds like I would need assistance from someone in the UK that would be nice enough to ship parts across the pond
