Offline | So you guys are seriously considering getting someone else to hold your knobs on cold mornings? I once let my girl friend hold my knob whilst I was driving - it can be a very hit and miss experience. Her 'action' wasn't particularly smooth, and often resulted in a painful 'graunching' noise - she even sometimes slipped down a gear rather than up, which made me hit my rev-limiter more than once, so the message is clear. If you want someone else to hold your knob, only do so when the car isn't moving, otherwise permanent damage could result. ![]() |

Offline | Message for Paul/Casey Can I nominate this thread for MINI2 Thread of the Year? The complaining and repetitive carping recently on the board has been depressing. I don't have a 100% fault free MINI but I'll get it fixed later. It's not exactly life defining stuff either. OK I'll probably get flamed by those with probs but I can take it. After the pages of constant whining and whinging on the board over the last week, this thread has shone like a ray of hope. OK we Brits are good at whinging - but our American cousins whinge but get results! However nothing can beat a spot of innuendo/toilet humour on a wet, cold December day! To all those with a Carry On sense of mind - I salute you all! ![]() There is just one moon and one golden sun; And a smile mean friendship to ev'ryone; Through the mountains divide, and the oceans are wide; It's a small world after all. |

Offline | This is fun! I had tears in my eyes after reading the original posting by Dogger, it got better and better! ![]() I agree with dcp, just to show owning a MINI is fun, and not doom and gloom all the time. ![]() |

All I can say is that it was a pleasure to get that stiff shiny knob back under my control (who know's who's rough burly hands it's been at the mercy of?? )...ditto...I'm with Bambi on this one..."if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all"...well, apart from 'can I have a courtesy car while you fix it?'.. ![]() Keep smiling folks, we'll all be driving straight into the oncoming traffic before you know it.. ![]() |

| MINI2 Regular | Im sure i have seen a knitting machine on QVC's Christmas special! How about if we all club 2gether and purchase such a machine. Then me may go into production of a MINI2 Knob Warmer. We could create all sorts of designs, from strip's to spots. Come new year we could all have warm knobs together!! Offline | No offence, but if someone's going to be warming my knob for me I would at least like to know their real name. So until then I'll have a cold knob...or rather I won't because my MINI still hasn't arrived. My current non-MINI knob is leather, and after 3 years of hard use (78,000 miles on an R-plate is hard use), my knob is looking somewhat worn - the, errrrrr, bulbous end to my knob is almost down to the steel shaft beneath, but it still works like a dream, even if it doesn't look as attractive as it once did - repeated testing with numerous 'helpers' has proven that my knob still feels as good in the hand as it did when it was a 'virgin' knob, having never been slotted into anything previously....and it's all nice and warm feeling, even on a cold morning. ![]() |

Offline | The solution to this problem is easy. Get down to your local golf shop and buy a single left handed golf glove - I would suggest that you get the all-weather version as they give better grip in the wet!! Silver Cooper with a black roof in Congleton |

| Moderator & Sponsor | Re: Knitting I'm not sure which is the dodgiest statement here?..the fact that you admit to watching QVC, or that you're now 'working out' wearing only one sock?.. Does the sock have 'go faster stripes'..and is it a 'HEAD' brand sock?..![]() Personally I was thinking of adapting some kind of latex sheath that my Mum keeps putting into my wallet for 'special occasions'. They seem quite easy to slip over the end and you don't lose that much sensitivity either...most importantly, they're easy to grip onto if you get caught in a slippery moment. Be careful of any tears that might appear though or you could have a very expensive accident.. ![]() |

| MINI2 Regular | I know of the "sheath's" you have spoken about Dogger. There are many on the market, some of which are covered in some sort of slippery liquid, this could hinder the thursting of the knob into its different positions, or make you loose control of it all together. And as for QVC, it has many attractive bargains on the run up 2 christmas, they offer a good selection of quality products at lo lo prices and they deliver them direct to your door. OHHHH how sad! | Moderator & Sponsor | Re: Extra Safe! I've often wondered what people would resort to to raise funds for their MINI purchase..are you on commission for QVC by any chance?.. If so, put me down for some of those delightful 'diamond-esqu TM' steering wheel covers that were on the other night will you?..Damn..did I say that out loud?.. ![]() As for the slippery sheaths...I find a good rub down with a shammy leather gets most of that gunk off, leaving it nice and firm to the touch as a result...*ahem*.. |
