Offline | Roll Cage Anyone tried buying or fitting a full roll cgae to a Mini? I know Safety Devices make a road and a competition one, but you try and find one to look at in a car!!! Any pictures or advice welcome. Looking to fit a full cage to my car "just for looks". One Life, Live It! |

Offline | Thanks. Tried JCW before and the were "less than helpful", saying something like ..... "oh, I wouldn't do that". I'm based in the Nottingham area and looks like you're way down south. Any JCC's up this way you know of? One Life, Live It! |

| Sponsor,Moderator & Racer | There are a few in the Midlands - I would guess JCW's advice was based on the fitting - Fitting any roll cage IS a real pain and well worth paying someone else to do - Best thing to do is visit a JCC event - We're at silverstone in August if you can wait that longPS You lose the rear seats to anyone other than contortion experts with the full safety devices cage |

Offline | OK Racer, thanks for your help. I will try and get to a JCWC race soon and have a look. If anyone else out there has any advice, let me know. For example, other than cost does it matter if its the road or comp. version. I like the idea of the cross brace and harnesses. One Life, Live It! |

| Test thread infiltrator | your insurance company won't like it ![]() Unless you're planning on entering it in FIA regulated competitions, I don't think it matters if it's road or comp... Racer can probably confirm/deny that. A bodyshop should be able to fit it for about £150 Dom |

Offline | Insurance companies are a pain for anything. I've often wondered why they would complain, it can't be value, car is worth less, it can't be reaplacement cost, if the cage is bent, the car is bent BIG time..... it must be prejudice!! and there are laws about that! One Life, Live It! |

| Sponsor,Moderator & Racer | Insurance co's are a real pain when it comes to cages - Can't quite understand it because injury claims must be reduced and going from damage sustained during racing cage often stops panel damage since the other vehicle / obstacle can't intrude as far into the car - For evidence see the pics of AndyW's car at Lydden - without the cage he would probably have needed a roof and sill as well Cages need to be to the std's specified in the MSA 'blue book' but I don't think they 'have' to be FIA approved unless it's an 'internationally rated' event |
