Dark Silver AfterMarket Steering Wheel

Help needed - As anybody got the answer why there is no aftermarket steering wheel available for the mini or the option of the three spoke. I am surprised to see no on asking this question before.

The MINI steering wheel is cool. Why would you want to replace it?

I expect most people are satified with it which is why there is not a lot of complaints. Personally it has to go, sub standard steering wheel in a quality car.

Have you tried the John Cooper Works people? I know they do some things for the car like alloys and seats. They might do a new steering wheel.

I thought MINI brought out a 3 spoke.

Any aftermarket wheel will fit, you'll just need the right boss kit. Your problem will come when telling your insurance company - you'll get stung because the airbag will have been removed or in the least tampered with

I know momo are still developing there boss for the MCS, not sure what over quality manufacturers that will have an option for the mini - any ideas will be greatly appreciated. I understand that the 2004 Mini will have an option for a 3 spoke steering wheel, but that is just an idea as I understand at the moment

Have to disagree weejinky. The Mini wheel is awful. How BMW can make something as good as the M sport steering wheel on the 3 series and then something as ugly and uncomfortable as the Mini is beyond me. Ditto the sports seats.

I personally don't like either the sport seats or the steering wheel in the MINI (though I have the sport wheel which is a touch better but still don't like it) I think this wheel would go great in the MINI.

not sure - I know sparco's fit and there is already a hub for them...I think you can use some of the bmw hubs to get it on...I would double check with a MOMO shop and find out.

LTBMotorsports.com has a lot of new MOMO stuff for 2003 as well. Make sure to check them out.

Casey thanks so much for that, if there is anything I can do for you - Casey you are the man - I am not sure how much longer I would have enjoyed care for without correct steering wheel.

I love those wheels, but what would happen with the air bag unplugged? Would any lights come on?

I have to wonder at you folks. The wheel in my S is top-flite! The only possible improvement would be an F1 wheel.

I was on the phone with the guys at Momo a few days ago. I don't like the Mini Wheel either. It looks fat not sporty. I like at least 3 spokes for different holding positions. They didn't mention a wheel for the Mini, but they don't make any with airbags. Forget liability insurance if you get rid of your airbag! They said the people who order them don't care.
I'm very disappointed....the Sport Steering Wheels from Momo are awesome and I would love to get one. Even better would be if Mini made one.

Another option which I haven't had time to look more into is the MOMO wheel used in the WRX. This includes an Airbag and only says MOMO on it - no reference to the WRX. Now I'm not sure how complex it would be to fit this wheel in as I'm not sure how the airbag connections compare etc. Both the 04 and 03/earlier wheels should work and still have airbags though I don't much care for the 04 wheel.

Oh i forgot to mention this as well - You might be screwed on insurance, but most likely if they found out you didn't have an airbag there they would drop you. I believe it is federal law in the USA atleast that you can not remove either of the two front airbags. You insurance agent is not going to insure a car that is not street legal if they know about it.

Definitely screwed on liability insurance.

Hey Dale,
I like that red & black steering wheel you showed a pic of above. That would go good with my all chili red cooper.
But no air bag huh. This is certainly more attractive.
I may have to ask you to help me with a picture post.
See Ya
