Hi guys.

I know that there are lots of other people out there like me that have been waiting for IR control over their iPods. Last month there was the protatype from Germany but now Dr Bott has just released one!

The NaviPOD pops on top of the player and has a small, circular remote. Controls exactly what the iPod wired remote does; Play/Pause, Next track, Previous track, Volume Up/Down.

I will be getting one of these ready to go in the S when it arrives. Will get a S-WIX and splice that in to the (yellow isn't it?) wire under the steering wheel with the MFSW. Will put a switch in so that you can change between the MFSW controlling the headunit and the iPod (S-WIX).

Put an iPod dock (I have a gen3 30Gb iPod) in the space below the toggle switches, wire up the AUX input and hook it all up. All I will have to do when I jump in the car is get the iPod out of my pocket, attach the IR reciever to the top, plonk it in the dock, flip the switch so the MFSW is controlling the iPod and groove away!!!

Well - almost now. It says "Pre-Order. Shipping in July". But, it is shipping from the Apple Store, so hopefully it is not vaporware.

The text from their website http://www.tentechnology.com/products_navipod_gen1.php says it includes a pass through firewire port for on-the-go charging and that the stand is "included". So I would assume it is removable for road use.

When anyone gets one, please post up a description and review.

Dave - Yeah, I have seen it shipping (supposedly) from a couple of places as well. I am going to get one of these in the next couple of weeks (unless the rumored IR enabled genuine Apple dock comes true) and will try and hook it up as mentioned.

Ant - on the www.ipodlounge.com report it says that there is an original iPod version as well as one for the 3G iPod.

Ants - look at their website. There are versions for each.

Jeb - FYI - if you aren't aware already, it is possible to edit existing posts. You there is an edit button in the lower right corner that you can get to if you were the original poster, or a moderator, I guess.
