HD (IBOC) Radio in 2004 models?

Does anyone know if MINI will be offering HD Radios (IBOC)radios in the 2004 models? This is not to be confused with Sirius or XM. If you're not familiar with this technology, here's a link:

http://www.ibiquity.com/hdradio/

This will allow current AM and FM broadcasters to transmit digitally with much improved sound and reception. I want to upgrade my 2003 but I'm guessing if I go to car stereo dealer and buy an aftermarket unit I'll loose the neat steering wheel features I have in the MINI.

Anyone know?

There's options for steering wheel control, do a bit of a seach for SWI-X or mikeythemini has come up with one. It depends on the headunit you buy.

MINI hasn't announced anything about '04 radios yet, but I think its unlikely they'll offer a new radio, since they only actually came out with the sirius option a few weeks ago, but you never know. Specs get announced in August for '04.

Magic 8-ball was correct. All be in awe of Magic 8 ball.

I agree with stryder, I would not be concerned with using your steering wheel controls. I upgraded ny head unit with an Alpine cda 7998 along with SWI-X and did not loose any of the stearing wheel functions. As a matter of fact I gained use of mid button on right.

Peace out
