Sony Ericsson bluetooth handsfree help please! HCB-30

Can someone help me on the installation of the sony ericsson bluetooth handsfree car kit HCB-30. I would like to install it myself to save some money and from what i read here, it should be rather easy. I have no experience working on cars electronics before, but I do consider myself very handy and good at following instructions. I couldn't find a DIY guide for this specific unit.

So, if you have this kit installed or if you know how to help, I would really really appreciate it.

Also, I currently have the official AUX output connected to the back of my radio, and i have the harmon kardon upgrade in my cooper s.

My main concern is how to connect all the wires. In the installation guide that come with the unit, they connect directly to the car battery (12V). but from what i read there, i think people power the unit from the radio? Also, if the power is thru the radio, does that mean I don't have to connect the blue wire that is suppose to connect to the car ignition (and I have no idea how to do that if i need to).

The Sony kit has a mute wire, a ground, a red wire to the power source, and a blue wire to connect to the ignition.

Thanx a million.

P.S. one last thing, if you have the kit, do you have the advance music mute option or u just use the attached external speaker. can you let me know how good are the external speaker? should i go with the advanced mute option so that it play sound thru the car stereo speakers? I worry that if i go with the advance music mute route, I can't hear the phone ring if the radio is off, is that true?

I have nokia kit fitted and has it fitted by a dealer, the work was streamless but they did literally take the car apart - oh and best of all no holes or wires showing.

I installed the Nokia BlueTooth Headset, one word of advice put the mike where the sunroof control is (voice activation space there - put mike on outside not on inside - I will post some pictures of mine in the week. good luck - oh I would use a professional

Take a look at my DIY explanation in the FAQ section. This explains all the wiring to the Head Unit. The phone input works great also when radio is "off".
If you have no experience in this kind of work I would leave this to others...
Best regards, Tore

Ditto what Tore said. His FAQ is excellent and if you have a basic understanding of electronics and car audio, it would enable you to hook up any kit that had good directions. But - if you are having second thoughts about an easier project like the Aux input, I would leave the car kit to an experienced installer.

Regards,

Dave

Gotten anything useful from MINI2? How about giving a little something back?
