Unhappy Sport seats?

I have leather seats in my MC, but I'm really disappointed with their support in sport conditions.
The thing is I'm not really sure if my seats are sport seats or not
Are MC's sport seats the same as MCS's seats?
And if they are, would you recommend changing mine to these?

Thanx.

I hate the seats in my MC. They are fairly wide, hard and offer little support (oh, half leather, and I can't tell the difference between mine and those in the MCS).

So, I've just ordered two Corbeau replacement seats (http://www.corbeau.com/brochure/cr1.shtml). , known as the CR1 stateside, and the 'Targa Sport' here in the UK.

Corbeau list a fitting frame for the new Mini, so I'm hoping the change will be fairly simple.

Of course, I'll have to get the airbags disabled because:
1) side airbags are going away, along with the old seats
2) the passenger seat won't have a sensor like the factory one does

I might be able to have the drivers airbag switched on, but I'm waiting to hear back from my dealer about that.
I know I'll have to sign a disclaimer absolving BMW of liability over the airbags.

Given that I commut 120 miles/day in my MC, and that takes up 3-4 hours, I think I need my butt to be comfy!

It's the only gripe I have about by MC. But I guess that BMW needed to cater for all sizes of drivers, and hence the fairly wide/flat seats with not much support.

I'll post back when my dealer gets back to me (expected this morning).

Might be worthwhile retaining your old seats as you may have difficulty selling/trading your can with non-standard seats especially with non-working airbags.

Mods - Cooper S pedals, Cheqered interior mirror, chrome side repeaters

Thanks for the tip - it's 'part of my plan'.

If/when the MC goes off for sale, I'll throw the standard seats back in, and pay the dealer to reconnect everything.
Of course, my new seats can be moved to whatever I buy next

Hmmm. Well, the dealer got back to me.

In a nutshell:

1) removing standard seats means that side airbags are going too (obvious, I worked that out for myself)
2) removal of passenger seat removes the sensor that controls whether the passenger airbag is active or not
3) non-connected airbags means ECU will register a fault with airbag system

The 'fault' will

a) disable all airbags
b) leave the airbag light on
c) disable the seat belt pre-tensioners (because they are dependent on the airbag system)

Grrrr.

I've already ordered the seats, and there is no way I'm going to put up with the pain of the factory MC seats.

As this is slightly offtopic to the original question, I've started a new thread:
