Thumbs down Halfords - Grrrrrr

I bought a JVC headunit and CD changer for my Cooper a few weeks back from Halfords and it came with free fitting.

I went back today to get them fitted to my 1 day old Cooper and was told that BMW Mini's are notoriously difficult to fit stereos in to (??!!) and that they couldn't do it. (Despite the fact I'd told them it was a BMW Mini Cooper when I originally ordered the headunit and changer).

So, I had to take it to Paula Marks in Byfleet, Surrey who were brilliant and they fitted it all in about 30 minutes.

I now have to send the bill to Halfords who said they would pay it.

Has anyone else had the same reaction from Halfords??

Well if they think fitting in a Mini is difficult I'd like to know what cars they have fitted before cos they have a shock comming. Must say that I have found it to be one of the easier ones that I have done. As confirmed by your other installer, I think.

Halfords shift boxes. That's what they're good at.

Anything else and you have to assess the risk involved.
I wouldn't trust them to check my oil level.

I bought our his and her bikes from them and their service guy couldn't even adjust the handle bar

Halfords is only good for carwash tools.. well thats all I use them for now and the odd smellies... tell a lie i also buy me spare bulbs from them

Plenty of ICE people around Pauline, just put a cross next to Halfords for ICE no matter how glitzy they look on display.

Does my @rse look big in this broom broom

To be honest I only used them because I had a £500 Halfords voucher as part of an insurance claim settlement so I had to go and buy from them as the insurance company wouldn't give me the cash. The headunit and CD-changer came with free fitting. I now realise why it was free!

Was it Halfords who were fitting it or the AA garage (who ARE a bunch of...) as the AA garage when I bought a CD Changer were a waste of time. (see thread)

AA = Alcoholics Anonmous?
