Happy Hippo, Thanks for the info. Only just read it as I have been too busy playing with the new 'baby' born on the 1st! Another Cooper hits the road!

South Africa MFSW adapters in South Africa

Got my Cooper S for 5 months now, and have just upgraded the sound system (Audison SRX + Hertz HS165 Splits & Hertz Sub). It sounds wicked, but I feel its time to upgrade the Head Unit.

One problem though, can't seem to find the MFSW adapter in South Africa. Anyone willing to ship one out here or know where I can get one, obviously shipping to be included in the purchase price?

Hi Mike,

Not to particular about the HU, was just hoping to get my hands on an adapter first and then make up my mind based on whats available. I take it there is only one kind of adapter?

How can I contact you about shipping one out here?

Hi, the plug and play adaptors are specific to each make of radio.
I do have a universal one but it requires a wire cut in the car and an led mounting. You would be better to pick a radio first
You can e mail me on newministuff@aol.com ring me on (0)1704 878528 or see my site, www.newministuff.co.uk

You will no longer need the harness adaptor but you will need the aerial & facia adaptors
WHere are you and do you have the Wave or Boost?

Now have an Infra Red interface for Pioneers
This will fit all pioneer units that have IR remote facility.
Only got it in wave wiring though

Hi all,

Bit of advice please if anyone can help...
Got an Alpine 9803R in my mini with the relevant alpine adapter to connect to iso and the adapter for the mfsw controls. When I put my headlights or sidelights on the radio doesn't light up (when it's switched off).
The stock Boost unit in my gf's cooper does and previous units in other cars I've had do, now I can't find my power button in the dark..? Is there a simple wire swap..?

Heeeelp..!!!

Nige.

EB/W Cooper S, leather, 16" x-lites, climate, sunroof, heated seats, MFSW, Alpine CD. Whalen Shifter, Bonnet stripes, tints all round. Normally to be found in the outside lane of the M20.

Hi Nige, the harness adaptor with the alpine mfsw adaptor carries a sidelight feed. Make sure the dash lights are set to full brightness as some stereos won't sense them if they are turned down. Other than that it could be that the alpine hasn't got that feature.

P.S. Just updated the mfsw adaptor list

i thought the R just means it's a uk model instead of us model --- do the US ones not work with any mfsw adapter?

thanks,
Wes

No they do not have the socket
The universal or SWIX as its known in USA is the only answer I can think of

I am picking up my MINI tomorrow. it has a NAV system but NOT the HK,

I'm thinking of the Pioneer DVH-5000MP head unit with a hidden switch to use the NAV screen for DVD.

I've no idea whether the stock head unit is boost or wave. Hence, I'm totally confused about how or IF i can use this Pioneer head unit with the MFSW controls.

Can someone advise me on this? Searches yield pages of stuff to wade through so I apologize if this has been covered before.
if this HU won't work, can someone suggest a similar HU that DOESn"T have it's own built-in LCD? I'd really like to use the NAV screen instead because installation and design are much smoother in appearance.

Thanks,
Kurtster
