Hey Mike,

I just ordered a Kenwood kdc-x679 for my incoming 05' MINI...got an adapter for this one? I will have the Sirius tuner installed too.

Thanks!

The controls are part of the Multi Function Steering Wheel (MFSW) that you can get as an option or as a retrofit from MINI

As regards the thread - I have just brought a loom for my Pioneer from Mike and can i say he is a real diamond.... v helpful on the phone and excellent communications on letting me know what was going on with the order ! Well recomended.

All I have to do is fit the rig this weekend and get wrid of that crappy Boost unit .... hehe

HI MIKEY ET ALL,

Bah! Im baffled by all this car audio stuff! i pick up my new cooper s on 3rd july , its coming with the bog standard wave unit ( NO BOOST)

It will also be fitted with the 3 spoke MFSW with cruise control and audio controls.

firstly im in a " cant decide mode" i have seen a few Head units i fancy, but would like opinions on em if possible,

firstly sony CDXR3300 looks nice, has mp3 and cdr rw capabilities , am concerned, will it work with

the MFSW ADAPTOR from newministuff? and will 4x 50 w give me a nice decent bass through the standard mini speakers? ( not after hoooooge bass )

the other unit i am intersted in is the clarion 648, will this work with the MFSW ADAPTOR from newministuff?

thanks for your help folks....

Leigh

Hi Leigh, bet you cant wait for July 3rd!

Imo, I looked at the CDXR3300 but a) the CD "flap" felt very poor quality, not sure if it would last? and b) the silver of the unit stood out a little too much in the mini for my taste.

As for the Calrion 648, that is a quality unit. It has a selectable colour display so you can match the Mini dash lights and is mostly dark grey/black so it matches it's surroundings more. I have tried the 648 and the Z bass option certainly sounds very "bassy" to me

I'm sure Mike will be able to answer your MFSW adaptor questions.

Good luck collecting your new Mini.

You can't have everthing ....
Where would you put it?

The Sony WILL work with my adaptors
The Clarion 648 will work with an IR adaptor (small LED to mount) The 748 works with a plug & play version
(I only discovered this today (thought the 648 was hard wired) will change what it says on my web)
p.s. here is a link to my guide
http://www.newministuff.com/mfsw_adaptor_guide.htm

I don't rate the Sony's - You could say that this is cos I don't sell them but we see more of them in for service than any other make.
The Clarions are rock solid - the 748 is stunning - 24bit, more colour control & speed sensetive volume

HI ,

thanks alot for your input guys,

i have decided on the sony unit, as it does everything i need, and i think it looks good its capsule like shape blends nicley with the roundness inside the mini. and ive found a nice deal on it too.

i will order it early next week, along with mikeys adaptor and fascia and arial adaptor too.

unfortunalty my mini will be ready on sat but i cant pick it up till early next week , cos my insurance docs havent came through the post yet and they arent allowed to register the vehicle without proof of insurance, oh well never mind

cheers!

Do the Clarions (748 or 648) do LW? Can't be without Test Match Special!

So the adaptor can't be seen in the car and you use the current buttons on the MFSW to change tracks etc?

Mikey,

Sorry this took me so long to reply to. I asked earlier if you had an adaptor that would work on my Kenwood x679. Here is the product link for the head unit:

http://www.kenwoodusa.com/product/pr...productId=2562

Thanks!

I will see if we can provide an IR version

Hey Mikey,
Just wondering when the HK MFSW and the rest of the kit is going to be ready. As soon as you get them in please notify me. I am sitting here looking at my head unit and kind of getting impatient. Thanks

Talking Hi Mike The Mini

Hi Mike

Thanks for the MFSW kit you gave me in April it works great and I would wholly recommend it to any one who thinking of using it.

I use it with the new Sony CDX-M9900 which also have video in not sure what I can use that for ? but the rest works great.

Mike even sent me a second unit to my parents address as my fist one got delayed. This meant I could install it when I was at there! I then just had to post the other one back to him when I got home. ( What I Life Saver!!!)

If your worried about using mike don't he's great!

Mike on another point. Phase 2 of my mini music upgrade is to include a IPod in the system and I see you now do ICE-LINK (cool).

Will this work with :-

Sony CDX-M9900
IPod 20GB 4G ( this is the new Fourth Generation IPod which are thinner)
MFSW - using the kit that's I already have from you?

Is there also a Cup-holder I can use with the holder from the ice link So that it can be mounted in the cup holder?
