Question CD-Changer prep location?

Hi guys,

Just got my official MINI 6-CD-changer today, and I apparently have CD changer prep (I asked for it and my salesperson said it was on), but I can't find the cable??

I think it's meant to be inside the right hand side panel of the boot, where the H/K amp is kept, but I can't seem to find it. Can anyone circle on the picture below to tell me where abouts it is?? Or what colour the cable is?

Perhaps I'm being stupid, but I've spent 15 mins looking for it and there don't seem to be any loose leads there

Also, apparently there are meant to be 3 screws with the cd changer - but don't you just unscrew the ones that are already there in the boot and put them back in, ie. you don't need 3 more screws?

Any help would be much appreciated!

PS. Don't ask me why I'm doing this on a Friday night!

Mine's in there, it's pretty obvious too, a 'free' piece of wiring with a plug that's tucked down low.

But Abi's is under the carpet in the boot on that side.

Hmm ok. I'm beginning to think it's not in there then! :/

Gonna have another look now.

Mine one was taped to the bunch of wires.

Or to make sure, you can check your original spec form to see if cd-prep was specced

I added it after I ordered stephen, but I rang him last week and he said it did indeed have it. No mention of it anywhere :-)

Is it bunched together with some other wires then? With like the black ties, or actual brown tape?

What colour is the wire??

My one was stuck together with white tape with the black wires. The colour of the wire is black.

It looks like your wire may be tucked away into your HK amp

The black box in your picture is the HK amp

stephen: I know

But, do you mean the lead is coming out of the front of the amp, ie. I have to unscrew it and take it out to get to it?

You shouldn't have to unscrew the head unit.

The cable should already be fed from the headunit to the back compartment

Hehe, stephen:-

Not the headunit, the amp. As you can see in the pic, the front of the amp is hidden so I'd have to take it out to get to it. That's all I mean :-)

Just had another look - there is a black cable, relatively thick, that goes right the length of the panel, but I've pulled both ends quite hard (can't get to the ends of the cable) and they appear to be fastened in somewhere, so I guess it's not that. Also, no tape (apart from the soft fabric cable ties on all cables) visible at all. Hmm :/

hi MarkW19

Don't know if these photos will help any?
My wires were taped to the others with masking tape, some of which you can see on the photo.
It looks like yours might be behind your amp though, or tucked up on the left hand side?
