| MINI2 Regular | How do you access the amp in the boot? My sound system in my MCS died about a month ago. Finally going to have it checked and fixed tomorrow. kind of a long wait to go without tunes and to see service. So, I was wondering if anyone knows how to access the amp in the boot of the mini.... assuming you have the HK premium sound. you can pull off that small panel on the right on the inside of the boot to see the amp, but it's stuck up in the the corner with no way to look at it in detail or remove it. Basically, my radio turns on and works... even the cd player. And yes, I checked the fuses near the driver side and under the bonnet. So, it has to be the amp. I think it blew a fuse or something.. or defective?! I also noticed when I try to access the HK premium sound features on the head unit, the digital surround sound features and driver side sound adjustment aren't accessible anymore. I'm assuming it's a feature that's part of the amp. how the hell do you get in there? It seems as if you have to undue the whole upholstery and move MAJOR parts. What up with the difficulty in accessing the amp?! It should be easier to get to to connect options AND not be in such a messed up position... it's almost a tease u can see it but can't touch it! Help! |

Offline | Like Mikey said, you need to remove the rear panel. To do this you have to remove the rear seats! Remove Rear Seats Don't think there is anything about panel removal - you basically pull it off, except there are 3(?) screws in the trunk area to remove first. I find pulling it starting at the passenger door is best. And be careful to ease it around the seat catch, and the rear seat belts. Refitting is not too bad, except trying to get all the clips to line up. And you will probably find some are damaged so won't clip back. When you get there, all you will find is the black box of the amp, and one connector to it: ![]() Unfortunately there might not be anything you can do even if you strip the car down - this connector has a locking clamp so probably did not come loose. |

Offline | Wing0949, I am experiencing the same failure of my amp as well. Head Unit works but no Harmon Kardon features and no sound. Fuses are fine. I'm taking it in to the dealer next week. I'll post their findings. MCS EB/B with Stripes, Sunroof, 16" wheels, Lapis Blue leather, Anthracite trim, Hk stereo. His name is "Bruiser". |
