Offline | 03 Steering Wheel Retro Fit I was wondering if it is possible to retro fit the 03 steering wheel rim (with thumbgrips and perforated leather) if so does anyone know the part number and the approximate cost. I am fairly sure this is a bolt on job without tampering with the airbag unit isnt it? |

Offline | Check the technical area, there's a MFSW wheel fitting directions. It will give you an idea of steering wheel removal/replacement. Although that guide doesn't explicitly cover that part of the work, it gives you an idea of the bits inside. Yes you have to remove/replace the airbag. I don't have the part number/price with me, but the MINI parts desk at my dealer quoted me about $350 US for just the wheel. Haven't done anything further than this. I'll see if I can find the quote sheet and give you the exact part #/price. 1960 Austin Healey Sprite 2002 PS Cooper S 1999 Expedition |

Offline | It would be pricey as removing the steering wheel involves carefully disabling the airbag and then hooking it up again without it going ****** (probably very easy but so far anything to do with an airbag is very expensive hopefully someday the costs comes down but not likely anytime soon) |

| Man in the know! | it can be done (though im gonna wait for the 3 spoke wheel....) i am told you need to disconnect the battery for half an hour to deactivate the airbag, then it should be pretty easy to do the swap. (but im not ganna try it myself, just incase i lose my head. |

| knowing me, knowing you | Wouldn't bother waiting for the new 3 spoke, its not nice! It looks like a blow up toy, not sporty at all. There are pics flying around some of the posts of the new beige and black leather interior and one of those has the 3 spoke on it, have a hunt through the threads if you want to see it. Its only a forum you know! ![]() |
