Offline | Rear seat confusion!!!! HELP! Hi, Ive just got my new hifi and i want to remove the back seats so i can access the panels. The thing is, i dont really get the instructions on MINI2's DIY section. I can see bolts with torx ends on them however they seem WAY too tight to losen - i was wondering if anyone could advise me on this. Thanks a lot - im DESPERATE to get my new 6x9's in now as the front speakers and head unit are now in! ![]() |

| Test thread infiltrator | ok... leave the torx alone. put the screwdriver down. step away. fold the back seats down. careful now. I said put that screwdriver down! look in the gap in the middle of the seats. slowly feel your way down to the bottom. stop drooling. there, that metal thing, see the 10mm bolt? Right. now carefully pick up a 10mm socket (with attatched ratchet) and undo it. Easy now. No not all the way! put it back in slightly. Ok, now put the socket down before you do any more damage. Good boy. Grab the seat on the left. Push the little levery type thingy that you just unbolted slightly. Finding it hard? ok, let go of the seat then. The inside edges of the seat backs should pop out. Grab the left seat again and tilt it to a roughly 45 degree ish angle, then pull it out of the socket (i.e, towards the other seat). Not too hard, you'll have to find the right angle, but that's true with a lot of things. Now you may want to sit down because this next bit is difficult. Think about it and apply the same process to the other seat. Oh dear. Should I call an ambulance? That's the rear seats gone, do you understand the instructions for the plastic bits? |

Offline | Hi, The rear seat bench just pulls up at each front corner, and un-hooks from the rear (behind the seat belf fasteners) The back rests - (from inside the boot) in between the 2 seat backs is a clamp type thing?? securing the seats together -you will see 1 bolt head, undo this and push the lever up to release the middle of the seat back. Now tilt one of the seats about halfway down as if you were folding them flat and pull it out from the side panel, and repeat for the other. YOU SHOULD NOT NEED TO UNDO ANY TORX SCREWS The rear trim panels just pull off when all the srews etc have been removed. Put these instructions together with the FAQ and hopefull it will all make sense. ![]() A Black One to a VX220 .. onto a 250bhp Focus RS . . . and now an 05 MCS |

Offline | While you're replacing the rears, seal up the enclosures behind them for better sound. Check out page 2. |
