CD Jumps

Has anyone else had problems with the standard CD Boost player.

Mine seems to be skipping quite a bit, especially on CDR's. before anyone starts in on me they are copies of my own CD's.

I have only just got the car and will get it back in the garage if it continues but I wondered if anyone else had had this problem?

"especially on CDRs", or "only on CDRs"?

If the former, get a replacement from your dealer. Any car head unit should be able to play store-bought CDs without skipping (unless the CD is in bad shape).

If the latter, try burning with different brands/colors/speeds. Some car head units can be picky. Hopefully you can find a combination that will work.

I have been using CD's and CDR's both of which have been skipping, although the CDR's seem much more pro to skipping than the shop bought ones.

I will give it a few more days and a few more shop bought CD's to see.

Cheers

Simple Idea

Have you thought to clean your laser lens? Even a small amount of dust can block one of the beams and therefore reduced the CD Players ability to read your CD while driving over bumps. Your laser lens should be cleaned every 20 hours of cd operation

Mine did this from new, mostly in the cold though, so could be partly a condensation issue?

At work we find the cheaper head units jump sometimes when it's cold or hot, That is because the suspension is silicon based not oil based (like the Pioneers) and as it cold or hot the silicon loses it viscocity, therfore it doesn't absorb the shocks as well, or just faulty suspension we have had it before

Cheers

Ive found this jumping thingy too. Although it seems to have stopped this last week.

If it does comtinue...does anyone know the plan of attack? Will Sytners just take the car in, whip it out (while you wait) and pop in a new head unit?

Just curious

My cassette player hasn't skipped yet, not even with back to back
potholes and rough roads.

Mine's skipped from day one.

Mentioned it to the dealer while having some other minor niggles sorted. They couldn't make it skip (suprise, suprise) but did offer to replace the head unit if my problem continued.

Skipping contiuned but it wasn't often enough to bug me so I didn't go to have the head unit replaced. However, the skipping has got much less frequent as time has gone on (MINI 8mths old now). It used to skip at least 3-4 times per album, now its more like once every few days. Maybe the head units are like a fine wine, they get better with age!!
