Offline | wave vs boost radio i wish i had never read this ice forum section.. now im confused... basically my requirements are CD player. ive opted for CD boot changer and wave radio whats the difference between wave and boost radio? does RDS feature on both tuners? i cant seem to find the answer on this. advise please. no comments on dont bother with them and use 3rd party units. im not inclined to have retro fit or home fittings. i want full standard factory fits with warranty. as im considering adding multi function steering wheel. |

| Wolves Did It! | i have the same set up you've ordered - wave & boot cd changer. The wave radio does have RDS & Traffic Announcement. With Boost you get a better overall sound (apparently) & the speed related auto volume adjustment. note the wave unit is a casette radio so you get a casette head unit but because you've ordered the boot mounted Cd changer you get CD as well. |

Offline | well, I have your setup - Wave with CD Boot changer - Yes it has a RDS feature, well a traffic info button. I found it really usefull on a long drive up to cumbria. As when listening to the CD it would occasionally cut in and give me local traffic reports. As far as the Boost goes - Im not sure I think its upgraded power & a few more features on the Radio. Not worth the extra dosh IMHO as I am more than pleased with the sound my Wave kicks out. But no doubt the ICE junkies out there will disagree. My arguement is that I have a real pokie stereo then I wont hear my supercharger whine!! |

| Trained Monkey | We have wave radio in our One, and boost radio in the 'S', the boost sounds a lot better. You can have boost cassette and CD in the boot, that's what my father in law has. You could go aftermarket and get better sounds, but the boost is good, and looks 'right' in the MINI dash. ![]() There aint no party like my nana's tea party |

Offline | one final question. for those in the ICE know... can the standard WAVE power a MD changer + a CD changer? or is it a better option to replace head unit for a single boost MD unit and connect the Cd changer to this? rather than trying to rig 2 changers...and losing precious boot space. |

Offline | Don't know about MD changer with Wave, but referring to your original question I specced Boost cassette + CD Changer in my Cooper, and in addition to the points raised above about extra power & speed related volume option, the boost cassette player has powered eject/ff/rw, dolby and with the MFSW (which I also got) you can fast forward/rewind to the next track from the controls on the wheel, which I don't think you can do with the wave? I'm sure someone will correct me on that last point if you can control the cassette from the MFSW with Wave. It's a bit steep at 135 quid for Boost, but I got it anyway! ![]() |

| MINI2 Master | I'd hate to hear the sound quality of Wave as in my last car I specced Boost with CD changer and I never really thought that a brilliant sounding unit. I have H/K radio cassette now with Sony aftermarket MP3 CD changer and the sound it absolutely brilliant compared with Boost. |

| MINI2 Veteran | Just remember, the wave is ok, it is sufficient. But the boost is a bit better, about 10W per channel more. but aftermarket units are great, Probably the best one to go for is the Sony MP70, i bought mine about a month before mini started putting them in their brochures. Looks fab and you can change the screen colour to orange. the wattage is about 10 more than the boost, and it rocks believe me. the unit costs around £275 in the mags, and you will have to buy a fascia plate and adaptor. ![]() Focus > Mini One > Mini Cooper > Mini Cooper > BMW 316 > BMW 318 > MINI ONE > BMW 120i > MINI ONE PEPPER! - IM BACK!! |
