| MINI2 Regular | I just recently bought the new XM Roady. It's smaller than the SkiFi unit and you can see it a lot better during the daytime. The new antenna is super small as well. Supposed to provide a better range too. Anyway, about the install. I was really stumped as to where to place the unit. I originally thought of the parcel shelf. This wouldn't work because you can't see the unit. This unit also doesn't come with a remote either...not that that would've mattered. The remotes are IR not RF. Which means that they also have to have line of sight. Next idea was the old install behind the cig lighter. I personally didn't want this because of the lighter being in front of the unit. Next thought about a phone mount. This would work, but I didn't want to drill holes in the floor. I did run across a cool phone mount that fits in your cup holder. I thought that this would be it. PERFECT! I went to some stores and they had no clue what one of the devices was. My next option would be to order one from the net. ($33.00). I then looked at the ashtray and popped it out of the cup holder, turned it upside-down and then thought, "If I pop the lid off, it might work". So I call the parts dept. and ask how much one costs (22.00) and order one. I pop the lid off, sand and file down the rough spots and try to install it in the driver-side cup holder. No fit. I have to file down the top half because of the narrowing shape. File it down and WAH-LAH! Fit like a glove. Pics are in my gallery. Hope you like. ![]() I have enough troubles overcoming my own limitations without fretting over the fact that God has not seen fit to distribute evenly the gift of intelligence. Offline | Looks very nice! creative too...thanks for the pictures. I'd just be careful you don't brake any of the wires on the downtubes, they look like they're bent rather sharply, perhaps you could get right angle adapters? or if you don't use the other ashtray just put it in the right cupholder and let the wires run on top of the left? or maybe i'm just worrying too much. Magic 8-ball was correct. All be in awe of Magic 8 ball. |

| MINI2 Regular | Thanks for the thought. I had thought about that myself, yesterday. I searched and searched for a wire with a 90 at one end. All the wires except for the aux. are 90's. I just went out at lunch and bought a 90 degree adapter for the aux. and all is great. I'll be posting some more pics shortly. edit* Pics updated to show 90's I have enough troubles overcoming my own limitations without fretting over the fact that God has not seen fit to distribute evenly the gift of intelligence. Offline | question - so I'm now looking at giving in and getting a roady instead of doing a new headunit or the factory option...not initially what I wanted as it won't be as clean looking, but after thinking about all the options of the roady and portablility from house, xman pack, other cars, etc it just seemed to make much more sense to get the roady. So to my question as I'm not much of a stereo guru myself - can the roady be hooked up through the Aux port if i were to install that? If so would I need the blitzsafe adapter. Does the blitzsafe adapter also include a lead for power or would i need something else as I don't want to use the cig lighter for power. Final question is all of that can be done and the roady is hooked up through the Aux port instead of using an FM Modulator will the controls still work on the roady or does that go into sleep mode? There are several options that are on the roady unit like saving song/title info etc that I would want to use so I would still want to control it most of the time through the roady unit. I don't have a MFSW so that is not a concern. Any tips would be great..cheers |

Offline | I've been researching the best satellite radio solution for myself and found the following information that might interest you. If you want the satellite antenna to be hidden from thieves, there's a spot under the dashboard cover that is designed as an alternate mounting location for the factory navigation system antenna. Pictures at this site show where the location is and how to mount the Nav antenna and information at this site details how to remove the dashboard cover. It looks like an easy job. |

Offline | I'm guessing it would work okay since the Nav satellite antenna is designed to go there. It would only add a little more thickness of plastic above the antenna. The signal must penetrate through plastic pretty easily since all satellite radio antennas I've seen are covered by a plastic case. |

Offline | The satnav antenna was supposed to go in that spot under the dash. The main reason it didn't was the heated winshield, which doesn't let radio waves pass through. Since they don't offer that in the US, its not an issue for us. Magic 8-ball was correct. All be in awe of Magic 8 ball. |
