HCB-30/Blitsafe(?) vs. MINI Bluetooth....

Hi, I'm so ready to splurge on the HCB-30 and the adapter. However, if MINI will be releasing a retro-fittable kit in the near future, I may wait. I can't really think of any added functionality that the HCB w/ adapter would otherwise provide, except perhaps integration into the MFSW. But, I don't even know if that's possible. Is there potientially a reason why I should wait for the MINI kit rather than just go for the Ericsson kit right now??

I haven't seen anything definitive about whether and when there will be a Bluetooth option for Minis. Bluetooth usage isn't exactly booming in the general market, so despite BMW now offering it in their more upscale 3 and 5 series, I wouldn't be surprised if they delay the option for the Mini. If they do release it, there's no guarantee that there will be a dealer-installed option for existing models. And if it is released, I'd be surprised if it costs less than the $300 or so that you'll spend on the HCB-30 plus Mikeythemini's adapter. The only possible upside, as you say, is the integration with the MFSW, or other integration features.

So you're looking at a relatively long wait (at least 6 months, even if they announced it in the short term), for an option that will probably cost more, and may or may not give you some extra features, like MFSW integration. If this option ever materializes at all.

Based on all this, I'd personally choose to go with an HCB-30 now. So I did, and it works great.
