Offline | New Steering Wheel vs. Old Steering Wheel Hi everyone. I am speccing my S and would like to get people's opinions on the new steering wheel. Originally i was waiting for a 3-spoke, but i am not sure i like the way this turned out. Anyway Please vote and let me know which one you prefer. Thanks. |

Offline | The 3-spoke looks awkward to me, not matching other lines and themes of the interior. A 3-spoke wheel is a good idea, but I don't like this one. IB/S/W/W/Magnesium/SpaceCloth/Prem/Cold/Sport/NoStripes /FeelsGreat/LessFilling |

Offline | Based off the pictures I think the new wheel looks a ton better...the spokes are thinner which is great as well. I think it fits well with the car - the spokes have the same color plastic as the dash and also are curved on the ends which makes them look like a minature version of the dash. I think the center airbag also looks a ton better on this. Though I don't like MFSW so I would choose one with out the buttons. One thing with these though is there is alot more silver plastic on them and if your dash is antracite or the patina it may look a bit out of place...the silver on the current wheel is considerably smaller and thus doesn't stick out as much. |

Offline | How can u lot like the old one better? I think the two spoke one is pants!! It doesn't fit in with the design scheme at all.... The buttons on the new one maybe a bit playstationy but the wheel in general is a huge improvement over teh old one. It's made me wait until the end of the year before i place my order ![]() My ultimate garage: F40 M3 GT40 MCS EVO6 GTR STI M12 |

Offline | it's amazing really - they've managed to produce two of the ugliest steering wheels i've ever seen - i suppose the rest of the car makes up for it though! Cometh the Hour, Cometh the MINI |

Offline | My vote goes to the old style. The buttons on the new one bother me too. The 3rd spoke needs to be at least half the width shown. I actually have an '02 MFSW that I like better than the '03 one as it's not quite as fat and fits my hand better. -- '03 S B/W |

Offline | I like the original wheel ... never had a problem with it. The 3rd spoke is exactly where I rest my hand when on long highway runs with the cruise control enabled ... in other words it'd be right in my damn way. I wont even get into the PS2 buttons as that's been covered plenty but that wheel center looks like the inflatable center of a toddlers toy. The design is off balanced, the 3 spokes to work should be equal. Oh and just what anthrancite and alloy patina owners need ... more silver to mismatch it further ![]() If that is the only wheel available in a few years when I am ready to get my 2nd MINI I won't be buying one. |

Offline | Most recently i have heard that this will be a $250 option on week 49 builds on, and that you may still be able to get the "old" wheel. No official word yet, but i am hoping that i will have a choice when december comes around, as i am still not sure. Anthracite would make this look a whole lot better though. |
